Description

Have you ever walked back to your farmhouse at night and tripped over your pet because you couldn't see them? Glowing Pets attaches a gentle, dynamic light source to your pet (Cat, Dog, or Turtle) that activates automatically when the sun goes down.

It serves as a cute aesthetic addition and a practical way to keep track of your companion during late-night farm chores.

Features

Adaptive Timing: The mod detects when sunset occurs in your game. If you use mods that change the length of the day or the time of sunset, this mod adapts automatically.

Late Activation: Optional setting to delay the light until it is truly dark (2 hours after sunset), rather than turning on immediately at dusk.

Performance Friendly: The light only renders when you are in the same location as your pet.

Fully Configurable: Change the color, intensity, timing, and size of the light.

Color Presets

You can switch between different lighting modes in the config:

Normal (Default).

Moonlight: A cool, calming yellow light that blends well with the night.

Spooky: An eerie red glow, perfect for Spirit's Eve.

Custom: Pick your own Red, Green, and Blue values to match your pet's personality.

Configuration

The mod works out of the box with the Normal preset and Late Activation enabled.

You can adjust these settings by editing the config.json file created after the first launch, or by using Generic Mod Config Menu (highly recommended).

Options include:

Enabled: Toggle the mod on/off.

Late Activation: If set to true, the light turns on 2 hours after sunset (e.g., 8:00 PM). If false, it turns on exactly at sunset (e.g., 6:00 PM).

Preset: Choose between Normal, Moonlight, Spooky, or Custom.

Light Radius: How large the glow area is (0.5 to 4.0).

Custom Colors: RGB sliders (0-255) for precise color control.

Installation

Install SMAPI.
Download this mod.
Unzip the folder into your Stardew Valley/Mods folder.
Run the game.

Compatibility

Compatible with Stardew Valley 1.6+.
Works in Single Player and Multiplayer.
Compatible with mods that alter game time or sunset hours.
Recommended: Generic Mod Config Menu for easy in-game configuration.
