Because this mod uses simple logic to discount the horse stable, it has zero performance impact. Got your horse? Feel free to uninstall the mod! You keep the building, and the future price automatically returns to normal. Make sure to trash horse Deed if you dont want your Free Horse before uninstalling. If you didnt, it's okay, just send that to trash bin, will be all good.

Tired of walking everywhere in a new save? Want a horse without grinding 10,000g and 100 Hardwood in the first week?

This mod provides a lore-friendly, two-day progression to get you mounted and mobile. Instead of cheating via console commands, you receive mysterious letters from "A Friend of the Wind," guiding you toward obtaining your steed.

How It Works

The mod tracks when you first install it on a save file.

Day 2 (The Morning After Install):
You will receive a letter containing a Stable Deed.
Usage: Hold the deed and right-click anywhere on your farm. It will open the Carpenter menu, automatically select the Stable, and make it Free and Instant to build.

Day 3:
You will receive a second letter containing a Horse Flute.
Now that you have a stable, use this item to summon your horse to your location instantly from anywhere outdoors.

Installation

• Install SMAPI (4.0 or later).
• Download this mod and unzip the HorseStarterKit folder into your Stardew Valley/Mods folder.
• Run the game using SMAPI.

Uninstallation & Save Safety

• This mod is designed to be lightweight and safe.
• Once you have used the Deed to build the stable and received the Flute, you can uninstall this mod if you wish.
• The Stable (and your Horse) will remain on your farm because it is a standard vanilla building.
• The Horse Flute will remain in your inventory because it is a standard vanilla item.

Compatibility

• Works with Stardew Valley 1.6+.
• Works in Multiplayer (each player needs the mod installed to receive the mail).
