Farmhand Scheduler
Safe to uninstall anytime. Removing it just disables the features.
Farm chores can be satisfying, but repeating the same “daily maintenance” loop on a big farm can turn into busywork.
Farmhand Scheduler lets you hire a helper who automatically handles selected tasks during set work hours, so you can spend your day exploring, mining, fishing, socializing, or simply playing at your own pace.
What the mod does
Each morning, the mod checks your planned tasks and calculates the total cost based on your per-task prices. If you have enough gold, the farmhand is hired for the day and will perform the chosen actions during the work window you set.
If you don’t have enough gold, the farmhand won’t work that day and no actions will run.
You control everything from an in-game Planner menu (and optional GMCM settings): what the helper does, when they work, and how much each task costs.
Tasks you can hire for
- Water crops
- Pet animals
- Feed animals
- Harvest crops
- Organize chests (sort items)
Harvest controls (quality-of-life options)
- Low-value only: skip expensive crops by using a value cap
- Exclude flowers: leave flowers untouched to keep beehouse honey bonuses
Why you might want this mod
- Saves time on routine chores, especially on large or heavily automated farms
- Lets you choose exactly what gets done each day and what stays manual
- Scales naturally: you can keep costs low early game or increase them for balance later
- Makes “big farm” playthroughs smoother without removing player choice
Costs and fairness
- Costs are calculated per action and charged once each morning before work begins
- If you can’t afford the total, nothing runs that day (no partial work, no surprise debt)
- The Planner shows the gold cost next to each task so you always know what you’ll pay
Configuration
- Use the Planner menu hotkey to quickly toggle tasks and work hours
- Use GMCM (if installed) to fine-tune per-task costs, work hours, and harvest options
Notes:
This mod is designed to reduce repetitive maintenance while keeping gameplay decisions intact: you still decide what gets handled, when it happens, and what it costs.
FAQ
Q: How do I open the Planner menu?
A: Press the Planner hotkey (default: P). You can change it in GMCM.
Q: When do I get charged?
A: You’re charged each morning before work starts, based on the tasks you enabled.
Q: What happens if I don’t have enough gold?
A: The farmhand won’t be hired that day and no tasks will run.
Q: Why does the Planner show costs even when a task is disabled?
A: It’s intentional so you can see the price at a glance before turning something on.
Q: Can I set different prices for each task?
A: Yes. Each task has its own cost in GMCM (and also in config.json if you prefer).
Q: Do changes apply immediately?
A: Planner changes are saved right away, but the day’s hiring/billing is decided in the morning, so changes typically take effect the next morning.
Q: Will the farmhand water crops in every location?
A: It waters crops across your loaded locations (same-world areas). Most players will notice the effect mainly on the farm/fields.
Q: How does “Harvest low-value only” work?
A: When enabled, the farmhand skips crops with sell price higher than your Value Cap.
Q: What does “Exclude flowers” do?
A: It prevents the farmhand from harvesting flower crops so you can keep beehouse honey boosts.
Q: Does Organize Chests sort every chest in the world?
A: It sorts player chests it can find (not NPC containers). If a chest is not a player chest, it won’t be touched.
Q: Is this safe to add/remove mid-save?
A: Yes. It doesn’t replace items or change the save structure. Removing it just stops the automation.
Q: Does this work in multiplayer?
A: It’s designed primarily for single-player; multiplayer behavior can vary depending on host/client and other mods.
Q: I installed it but nothing happens. What should I check?
A: Make sure the farmhand is enabled, tasks are turned on, you can afford the morning cost, and your work hours include the current time window. Checking the SMAPI log usually shows whether hiring/payment happened.
