This mod is a framework that lets modders use Content Patcher to give dialogue to the various types of silent NPCs in the game.

It isn't meant to do anything on its own.

The content patcher paths to target are:

Characters/Dialogue/<NameOrType>
[b]Portraits/<NameOrType>
[/b]
Replace <NameOrType> with either the specific name of the NPC or the type. Types for pets and monsters must be the actual type (Cat, Dog, Bat, etc.). Junimo types are either Junimo or JunimoHarvester.

I have only tested this with horses and cats; it's still experimental, let me know whether it works with the other NPC types.

If it causes problems with any NPC type you can disable that type in the config.

Config

You can customize this mod by editing the config file or using Generic Mod Config Menu.

Technical

Requires SMAPI.

Implements a Generic Mod Config Menu interface to change config settings in-game.

Compatible with Mod Updater for automatic updates.
