Version 1.9 – The Great Cleanup
Stability overhaul – fewer crashes, faster loading, same massive mod count.
What changed
This update is a major stability pass. I went through every single SMAPI log entry and removed mods that were broken, conflicting, or doing absolutely nothing. The modpack went from ~1,465 mods down to ~1,000+ working mods and it's actually more functional now because hundreds of those removed mods weren't loading anyway.
Fixed
- Name tags floating above all NPCs – NameTags mod removed
- NPC portraits falling back to vanilla – Simplified Palette was fighting every other portrait mod for exclusive priority, causing none of them to load
- Greenhouse, Cellar, and Horse not rendering custom textures – multiple exclusive mods were canceling each other out
- 220+ missing texture errors – removed broken Jiaojiao furniture mods with missing asset files
- Save file corruption risk – removed Friendship Streaks (crashed on every save/load) and Post Wedding Dates (crashed every night)
Removed
- ~137 mods marked "no longer compatible" by SMAPI (targeting pre-1.6 APIs)
- ~130 mods with missing framework dependencies (FarmTypeManager, ProducerFrameworkMod, PlatoTK, Dynamic Game Assets, FurnitureFramework, etc.) – these were being silently skipped by SMAPI anyway
- Duplicate mods – consolidated perfume variants, Squishmallows, Wild Animals, Marry Me, and others
- Game-breaking mods – QiChest (crash on launch), VideoPlayer (XNA crash), CarryChest (loses items), and 15+ mods with broken Harmony patches
- Conflicting mods – reduced 10+ main menu mods to 1, resolved greenhouse/cellar/horse texture conflicts
Known Issues
- Some Content Patcher warnings remain for mods referencing SVE NPCs (Andy, Claire, Sophia, Victor, etc.) when SVE is not fully loaded – cosmetic only, doesn't affect gameplay
- A few mods still have broken code references that SMAPI rewrites at startup they work but may behave unexpectedly
Notes for Players
- Start a new save for the cleanest experience
- If you're continuing an existing save, some removed mods may leave orphaned items this is normal
- Report any issues on the CurseForge page!
