If you absolutely, positively need a reliable companion then you want Haez. She is deadly, has a multi-faceted spell list, and carries the "Fanged Katana." The best spellsword in Skyrim. She also carries a torch, a bow, and has her own set of Glass Armor. [Standalone Modification]

Haez / Spellsword / Dead Man's Drink. (Balanced, compatible, and lore-friendly.)
This modification adds Haez, a level 30, Spellsword, Redguard to Dead Man's Drink in Falkreath.
She will level up with you, heals others, carries a torch, and is battle-ready from the get-go.

Level 30, Redguard / One-Handed, Destruction, and Restoration.
Fire, Ice, and Electric magicka. / Projectile, Constant, Conjure, and Runes.
One-handed, shield, and bow. / Fanged Katana, Hunting Bow, and Steel Arrows.
Healing spells, and torch. / Grand Healing, Healing Hands, Heal Other, Bound, and Light.
