🔖【模組說明&玩法筆記 / Module Introduction & Gameplay Notes】↴

This mod allows your Sims to explore their imaginary family tree. Instead of focusing on recent generations, it delves into their distant ancestors from long ago. Sims can discover which regions their ancestors came from, whether they had any famous relatives, and even if they’re descended from legendary figures—such as kings, wizards, or notorious pirates. New discoveries are recorded in the notebook for easy reference.

Ancestral traits are represented as special traits that grant various bonuses depending on your Sim’s lineage. For example, if a Sim descends from a renowned doctor, they might have a natural talent for medicine—almost like it runs in the family.

Once a Sim uncovers these ancestral traits, they can share them with other family members, who will also gain the same traits. They can even write a family history book, which other related Sims can read to acquire and pass down these traits through generations.

Currently, the mod includes 33 famous ancestors and 24 legendary ones—each with a unique name, backstory, and portrait. In addition, there are 24 ancestral region traits, each accompanied by a landscape portrait representing their place of origin.

🔸如何開始/How to start🔸

At the beginning, it's recommended that your Sim first focus on improving their Family Legend skill. The higher the skill level, the more interactions will be unlocked.

You can also pre-place the following items that come with the mod: SimCity Records File Cabinet and Mountain Shrine. I've added keywords to these items, so you can easily find them in Build Mode by searching for "SimsonianLibrary".

• The file cabinet can be found under Desks > Miscellaneous
• The mountain shrine can be found under Decorations > Statues

🔸家族傳說技能/Family Lore Skill🔸

The Family Lore skill reflects how much your Sims know about their family's history and lineage through genealogical research. We've also introduced a research progression system similar to the scientific breakthroughs in the Scientist career from Get to Work.

As your Sims study their family tree, they'll gradually make progress. Once they reach certain milestones, they'll experience breakthroughs that reveal new insights about their ancestry.

Your Sim can level up their Family Lore skill through the following activities:

• Research Family Tree on a computer
  (Computer > Network > Research > Research Family Tree)
• Search the Library for Rare Documents (requires Family Lore Level 6)
• Search the Attic Storage Decoration Box (a seasonal item from the Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter DLC) for Family Memorabilia
• Analyze Memorabilia found in the SimCity Records Filing Cabinet
  (The cabinet must be placed in a lot located in your Sim’s ancestry region)

 ↪ The filing cabinet functions like a bookshelf and will automatically include three new books related to family history. It's recommended to place it in a library (which adds the books to all bookshelves) or any other public venue, such as a community center or museum, especially if there’s no library in the region.

 ↪ If your Sim is in their ancestral region, they can browse the memorabilia inside to uncover items that contribute to their Family Tree research. These items can then be analyzed for additional progress.

Your Sim can also advance their Family Lore skill through the following activities:

• Use a Metal Detector outdoors to find buried mementos and analyze them
  (Metal Detectors can be purchased via Computer > Order > Buy Family Tree Supplies)
•  ↪ Metal Detectors can uncover dig piles anywhere, but if used in your Sim’s ancestral region, the piles will contain special Family Tree Mementos. These can be analyzed to boost research progress.
• Talk to other Sims in your Sim's ancestral region
  (Make sure your Sim is currently on a lot in their ancestral region)
• Analyze Tombstones
  (The tombstone must be located on a lot in the ancestral region)

 ↪ Once your Sim reaches a certain level in Family Lore, they can analyze tombstones in their ancestral region to gain research progress. The tombstones don’t need to be linked to deceased Sims—you can build a cemetery and place unassigned tombstones for research purposes.

• Visit a Psychic
  (Click on your Sim > Family History > Travel > Go to a Local Séance)
• Ask other Sims in the ancestral region about local families
• Discuss family background with another Sim
  (Click on another Sim > Family History)
• Research birth certificates at the hospital
  (Use any computer in the hospital > Family History > Travel > Go to San Myshuno General Hospital)
• Research legal documents at the police station
  (Use any computer in the police station > Family History > Travel > Go to Metropolitan Police Station)

🔸祖先特徵/Ancestor Traits🔸

Ancestral traits are divided into three main types. Many ancestors are associated with non-profit foundations that offer scholarships, investment funds, and other benefits to their descendants.

For example, if your Sim discovers a connection to a famous scholar, they’ll receive a full scholarship. If this trait is passed down to their children, those descendants (and future generations) will also qualify for free college tuition.

When your Sim uncovers an ancestor or identifies an ancestral region, they’ll receive either a portrait of the ancestor or a landscape painting of the region. Viewing these paintings grants various positive mood buffs.

Some ancestral traits also provide skill bonuses, representing talents passed down through generations.

🔸傳遞知識/TRANSFER KNOWLEDGE🔸

Once your Sims uncover their family history, they can pass that knowledge on to their relatives—allowing them to benefit from the same ancestral traits. For example, if a grandparent shares their family history with a grandchild, the child will inherit all of the grandparent’s ancestral traits.

At Family Lore level 8, your Sim can directly teach their immediate family about their ancestry. This action copies all of the Sim’s ancestral traits to eligible family members.

Your Sims can also create a Family History Book, which records their ancestral traits and allows other family members to gain those traits by reading it. This feature becomes available at Family Lore level 9, when your Sim can write the book using a computer.

🔸遠房親戚/Distant Relatives🔸

You may come across distant relatives who share a famous or legendary ancestor with your Sim. Discovering this connection grants a friendship boost between them.

To compare your family backgrounds with other Sims, select “Talk About Family Background.”
You can also learn more about a region’s history by asking local Sims about the families who live there.

Sims who share the same ancestral region will unlock additional social interactions under the “Family History” menu, such as discussing regional politics, sports, and historical events.

🔸祖傳食譜/Ancestor Recipes🔸

Each region has its own ancestral recipe, which can be discovered and unlocked. These are unique, local variations of existing dishes—essentially the region’s signature cuisine. You can find these recipes by searching for memorabilia in filing cabinets or attic storage boxes.
Note: Your Sim can only discover recipes from their own ancestral region.

If your Sim has ancestry from a specific region, eating that region’s ancestral dishes will grant special buffs that last for several hours. Cooking and eating these dishes also provides an Ancestral Favor bonus. All ancestral recipes are available once your Sim reaches Cooking Level 2.

You can teach ancestral recipes to other Sims, or learn them from others, regardless of whether they share the same regional background.

Finally, all bars located in a given region will offer that region’s ancestral recipes on their food menus. You can also add these dishes to your custom restaurant menus. When Sims eat them, they’ll receive the same buffs as if they had cooked or eaten the recipes themselves.

🔸俱樂部互動小組和假期目標/Club Interaction Groups and Holiday Goals🔸

For clubs based on a shared ancestral region, the following social interactions will be available:

• Talk about regional politics
• Talk about regional sports
• Talk about regional history

For clubs with members from different ancestral regions, the following social interactions will be unlocked:

• Talk about hometowns
• Research genealogy
• Tell family stories

The following holiday traditions have also been added:

• Eat ancestral food
• Pay respects to ancestors
• Tell family stories

🔸靈媒和降靈會/Mediums and Seances🔸

Mediums have an easier time finding their ancestors because they can communicate with them directly. During séances, an additional interaction called “Ask Ancestors” becomes available, which helps uncover ancestor traits. Mediums can also ask ghosts about other Sims’ ancestors by selecting Other Sims > Family History > Travel > Attend a Séance.

As a medium, your Sim can host a séance—a special event focused on discovering the ancestors of all attendees. In fact, mediums can hold séances at any party they attend.

Lastly, any Sim can pay to join a Rabbit Hole Séance to learn about their origins, find their ancestors, and communicate with them. The more your Sim knows about their family history, the luckier they’ll be during a séance.

🔸祖先靈魂/Ancestor Spirits🔸

If your Sim has famous or legendary ancestors, they can be summoned to communicate and grant positive buffs. To make this happen, you need to regularly honor your ancestors using methods like incense burners. Doing so increases a hidden Ancestral Favor stat. A higher Ancestral Favor also improves your chances of discovering famous and legendary ancestors.

The more ancestral traits you uncover, the easier it becomes to find new ones.

You can earn Ancestral Favor by honoring your Sim’s ancestors in various ways—burning incense, paying respects at gravestones or mountain shrines, or making offerings in water or fire.

When your Sim gains Ancestral Favor, a temporary icon will appear above their head (inspired by the Family Orientation trait) to indicate this.
