The path to spicy glory at the Food Festival is not without its challenges but did you know you can practice your spicy food skills at home? Just pick your favorite spicy food and have at it! Spicy food tolerance develops at different rates but persistence does pay!
If you manage to beat the heat and make it to the lofty heights of Spice Hound, you will also unlock the power of the Ghost Pepper! This enhanced ability lets you use a fully functional spice, Ghost Pepper Spice Blend, which improves any dish that can be improved, impart unparalled flavor, and can even unspoil food! You also gain the ability to temporarily turn into a variety of ghosts and haunt your family and friends, and add a supremely powerful dash of Ghost Pepper to any non-spicy dish turning it into a heat-filled delight that gives the Spice Hound a potent blast of mood enhancing endorphins that can make even the worst day somehow inspirational.
Once the mod is installed, the reward functionality is fully automatic and will require no player intervention. Spices do not affect the Grim Reaper, Important NPC Sims, Ghosts, Skeletons, or the Undead.
The Spicy Path
Spicy Beginnings
When you just starting out, your path to spicy glory is a struggle but don’t give up! It does get easier. Eating spicy food such as curry and others will build up your spice tolerance. When you achieve mastery of the spices, you will obtain the reward “Spice Hound” and that’s when the fun really begins. Some of the games spicy foods have to be learned from the vendors around San Myshuno (Curry), and some of them like the Samosa Soup (Gourmet/For Rent) can be cooked by anyone with the proper skills.
Just find your favorite spicy recipes and you’re all set!
Spice Effects
Early on that spicy burn can be difficult to digest, literally. Gastrointestinal distress, digestive disruption, profuse sweating, and general discomfort are common. The effects are short-lived but it will get easier as your spice tolerance develops. Most of the time, the spice novice will get a bad, but short-lived, case of nausea with the spicy food having a follow-on effect of digestive distress. When it resolves itself, a mood-elevating blast of endorphins will make the negatives of the experience a distant memory.
As your Sim gains spice tolerance, they will quickly conquer the nausea, and eventually the gastrointestinal distress, and once you achieve the pinnacle of spice tolerance, will experience the endorphin rush right away. Until you reach the peak of spice enjoyment, not giving your digestive tract a few hours to recover will invite the more severe effects to return.

As you build your spice tolerance, you will overcome the worst of the stomach upset and it will take less time to experience the spicy foods endorphin effect. Keep going!
Ghost Pepper Whisperer (Spice Hound Achievement)
Spicy Victory – The Spice Hound Achievement
Once the game decides you’ve suffered enough, the Spice Hound achievement is awarded and a few minutes after that you will get a notification, similar to the one shown here. The notification indicates that the Ghost Pepper Whisperer functionality is now active.
Now things really start to heat up! With the functionality active, the following effects are applied:
- 10-days of additional life are awarded.
- The Curry Festival T-Shirt is yours to claim (CAS).
- Naps and Sleeping fill energy faster.
- You have access to two potent fully-functional spices:
- Ghost Pepper Spice Blend: Can unspoil food, Raises the quality of any dish that can have the quality raised.
- Ghost Pepper: Makes any Immaculate quality dish a fiery endorphin source! Consuming a dish with Ghost Pepper if you are not a Spice Hound is not recommended. Since this can only be applied to dishes of the highest quality, it’s a good thing you have a spice blend to raise the quality of any ordinary dish!
- Some Friendly spice-themed socials are available to the Ghost Pepper Whisperer.
- Ghost Pepper Whisperers can become temporary Ghosts and haunt their friends. Or enemies – you do you.
- Note: Ghost Pepper Whisperers may notice that some plumbing objects degrade or require more frequent cleaning. Your digestion is no longer factory standard.
The Spices
Spice options are only available to select when the food object meets the requirements. Otherwise, they pair with any food item.
Ghosting
You can become a temporary ghost by selecting your Sim and locating the Ghost Pepper Mastery menu. From there, you have the option to select a ghost type and enjoy being a ghost.
The effect lasts a few hours and once it expires, you return to your original form.
