Be invited to NPC weddings, schedule them yourself, and much more. The overarching goal of this mod is to be able to influence the romantic relationships of NPCs without ever having to go to manage worlds or use cheats.
New Wedding Interactions
When you click on a wedding arch, there will be a new option to have NPCs get married. This will bring up a picker of all engaged NPCs currently in the area. You will only select one of the sims and their fiance will automatically come to the arch with them as long as they’re in the area.
Cakes with wedding toppers will have a new option to select a newlywed NPC to cut the cake.
Scheduled NPC Wedding
You can schedule an NPC wedding event through the calendar, phone, or by clicking on a wedding arch. It’s scheduled just like any other event. I made it free since it’s not actually your wedding. You can choose to have goals or not, though there aren’t actually any rewards other than buffs, again because it’s not your wedding. I set it so you can invite any sim whether you know them or not in case you want to try to invite the family and friends of the sims getting married, but there is also another method of inviting the households once the wedding is started.
Invited NPC Wedding
Engaged NPC friends can invite your sims to their wedding. Make sure you have a wedding venue placed in any world or this call will never come up.
This event will be goaled because I think it’s more fun to have goals in an event. As far as I’m aware, there isn’t a way to choose whether an event is goaled or not when you’re invited, but you can just ignore the goals if you want as there aren’t any rewards aside from buffs.
You can select some sims to take to the wedding, but a few guests will be automatically invited as well. Again, I included all sims in the picker for this in case you want to invite sims who you know the betrothed are friends with.
If you don’t accept the invite, there will be another dialog asking if you want the sims to get married still. You can choose to have their status changed to married, reschedule the wedding for sometime soon, or do nothing.
Wedding Events
Both of the wedding events will have a caterer, mixologist, and entertainer automatically hired. If you want to invite the households of the betrothed sims once either of the events are active, selecting the betrothed sims will bring up an option under the actions menu to invite their household. You can select as many sims as you want to invite to the wedding and they will all come over. Then, once the sims are on the lot, they will be added to the event. If they were already on the lot they’ll just be added to the event as guests. If the household members were assigned to be the caterer, mixologist, or entertainer you can still add them to the event this way. They’ll just be switched to the guest role and someone new will be hired to fill the service role. When sims get added to the event, they should change into their formal outfit almost immediately, but it might take a bit longer for the tooltip to update and show the guest role. Because infants can’t change their own outfits, they won’t automatically change to their formal wear. I did try to make them change on their own, but I couldn’t remove the spin animation so their limbs would stretch unnaturally and I figured it was better to just let you do it manually if you want infants at the wedding (that sounds chaotic, but you can if you want).
Be careful if the betrothed sims have very large households. By default, only 20 sims can be on a lot at a time. If you don’t use another mod to increase this limit, you can run into issues with sims just leaving the lot when you try to invite more than 20.
During the wedding event, the betrothed sims can autonomously get married, but if it takes too long you can always direct them to do it instead. After getting married, they can also autonomously cut the cake. Again, you can wait or do it manually yourself. When either of these interactions begin, there will be a notification and you can click on the notification picture to zoom into the sim so you don’t miss the wedding or the cake cutting. Other than that, the event is mostly the same as a base game wedding. I just changed some of the goals to work better with NPC hosts.
Attend Wedding Together
If your active sim is in a group, there will be a new option on sims getting married at an arch to have all members of the group watch at once. Make sure neither of the sims getting married are included in the group for this to show up. This works for the regular arch wedding and my NPC version.
Moving NPCs in Together
In the base game wedding, once the event ends there is a popup asking if you’d like the newly married sims to move in together. When you direct NPCs to get married at an arch outside of an event this will work the same as the normal base game way, but it’s a bit different with the new events. With NPCs and custom events it’s a bit trickier to have this show up, but they can autonomously do it once the wedding ends. If either of the spouses aren’t busy with an interaction when the event ends this should pop up pretty much immediately, but if they have other interactions queued it might take a bit longer. There is also an option to do it manually though. The manual option is permanently available on sims that meet the right conditions whether the wedding event just happened or not. Under the actions menu there will be an option to have the NPC move in with their spouse. The game puts a lot of limits on the times that you can manage households from live mode like this.
This interaction will only show up if the following conditions are met:
- The selected sim is married
- The selected sim does not already live with their spouse
- The selected sim has a home lot
- Both spouses are currently in the area
- No wedding event is currently running
I also limited this interaction for members of the active household and their spouses (you can use the usual split and merge household interaction for that).
Elope Call
You can get a new neighborhood stories type call from NPCs who are engaged asking you if they should elope. If you say yes, their relationship status will be changed from engaged to spouse. There are different response options based on some traits. Outgoing or Romantic sims will have the option saying “Don’t do it! I want to come to the wedding!” rather than the usual no answer. When you choose this option, you’ll get an invite to their wedding a few days later, otherwise the no answer will just do nothing. The maybe option will have a random chance of either marrying them or doing nothing.
Suggest Engagement & Ask Wedding Date
There is a new option under Other Sims in the Relationship category to suggest sims get engaged to their partner. Within the next couple of days they’ll report back to you how it went. They’ll either have gotten engaged, not gone through with it, or if you also know their partner you may get the call from their partner that they’ve found the ring and you can advise them whether to say yes or no.
You can trigger a wedding invite to come within the next few days by selecting Ask Wedding Date under Small Talk on an engaged NPC sim.
