β’οΈ Post-Apocalyptic Cooking & Scavenging
Transform your Sims 4 into a hardcore wasteland survival experience! This gameplay overhoul completely reconstructs how your Sims forage, prepare food, and manage water resources in a ruined world. No more reliance on traditional grocery stores --- your Sims must adapt to survive.
Scavenge. Filter. Cook. Survive.
One sip of the wrong water could be your last.
Key Gameplay Features:
The mod introduces two new functional objects that form the foundation of your survival gameplay:
πΊοΈ Scavenger's Map
π Find it in Build/Buy → Paintings, or search for LSLS_Scavenging Map.

Use the map to explore abandoned locations and search for food, herbs and other valuable supplies.
π§ Water Filter
π Find the Water Filter in Build/Buy → Kitchen Appliances, or search for LSLS_Water Filter.

An improvised filtration device used to turn dangerous Dirty Water into safe Filtered Water for drinking and cooking.
The mod focuses specifically on food, drinking water and resource acquisition, creating a connected survival loop:
Scavenge → Gather Water → Filter → Cook → Survive
How It Works
πΊοΈ Scavenging the Wasteland

Place the Scavenger's Map on your lot and use it to send your Sim on expeditions to abandoned locations. Before leaving, your Sim will approach and examine the map, then head out on a rabbit-hole expedition.
Different locations offer different potential supplies. Your Sim may return with preserved canned food, herbs and other useful ingredients — or they may come home empty-handed.
The Scavenger's Map also includes built-in tutorials covering the mod's major systems: scavenging, water collection and filtration, cooking, Water Poisoning and preparing the Remedy.

Don't ignore the trash, either!
Sims can search outdoor trash cans using Rummage for Supplies for another chance to uncover something useful... or something very questionable.
π§ Realistic Water purification
On Off-the-Grid lots, Sims can gather Dirty Water from lakes.
But finding water doesn't mean it's safe to drink.
Use the Water Filter, available in Build/Buy Mode → Kitchen Appliances, to turn Dirty Water into Filtered Water.

Filtered Water can be used for:
- drinking safely,
- preparing wasteland meals,
- preparing the Wasteland Remedy,
- cooking selected regular meals included with the mod.
β οΈ Drinking unfiltered water?
Your Sim will develop Water Poisoning.

Water Poisoning will not disappear on its own. It progresses through several stages, becoming increasingly severe over time. Leave it untreated for too long and your Sim will eventually die (after ~24h) from Water Poisoning.
β οΈ
Once a Sim becomes poisoned, a new Wasteland Remedy option will appear in the Survival Cooking pie menu.
π² Survival Cooking Menu
All cooking options from the mod are accessible on the fridge under the Survival Cooking pie menu.
Wasteland meals are prepared on a grill, so make sure your lot has one before cooking. (stove option is planned in future update)
Recipes are also available through the Custom Food Enabler, if installed. The Custom Food Enabler is optional and is not required for the mod to work.

Scavenged canned food can be eaten directly using Grab & Eat or used to prepare larger meals with Filtered Water and, for selected recipes, vegetables.

The mod also includes custom versions of selected Base Game recipes:
Chicken Soup • Tomato Soup • Fish Soup
These recipes require Filtered Water and do not override the original EA recipes.
π Compatibility
π₯ Simple Living
Recipes are compatible with the Simple Living lot challenge and correctly recognize their required ingredients.
π§ Thirsty! by Ilazyneiph - [here]
All drinks included in the mod are compatible with Thirsty! and will correctly satisfy its thirst need.
I personally love this mod and always use it in my own post-apocalyptic saves - having to actually keep your Sims hydrated adds another layer to the survival experience, so I really wanted my drinks to work properly with it.
Huge appreciation to Ilazyneiph for creating it! β€οΈ
Thirsty! is optional. Post-Apocalyptic Cooking & Scavenging works normally without it installed.
Requirements

β οΈ Known Issue --> Grim Reaper
In some cases, after a Sim dies from Water Poisoning, the Grim Reaper may become stuck and fail to complete the reaping interaction.
Workaround: Hold Shift, click on the dying Sim and select Reset Object (Debug). The death interaction should then complete normally.
I'm aware of the issue and will keep looking into what might be causing it.
