Drama Engine - Chaos and Consequences v1.01
What's new
Drama Engine: Chaos & Consequences — Version 1.01
Major update
Version 1.01 is a major systems, writing, pacing, and consequence overhaul. The goal of this update is to make Drama Engine feel less like a random popup generator and more like a persistent story system whose events fit the current game state and continue to matter after the popup closes.
Complete narrative overhaul
Reworked all 10 event categories: Everyday, Money, Work, School, Friendship, Romance, Family, Rivalry, Health, and Danger.
All 4,000 catalog scenarios now use situation-specific setups rather than generic time/weather wrappers.
Choice text is more contextual and resolution messages describe what actually happened.
Choices now have alternate aftermath writing so repeated mechanics do not always produce identical result prose.
Smarter event firing
Work events only become eligible while the relevant Sim is actually at work.
School events only become eligible while the relevant Sim is actually at school.
Family, Romance, Friendship, Rivalry, Health, Danger, Money, and Everyday events now check live context and target availability before firing.
Events can select any eligible playable Sim in the active household, not only the currently selected Sim.
Major events are now household-wide and occur every 3–4 Sim days by default instead of firing every day.
Delayed follow-ups remain separate from the major-event timer so earlier stories can still resolve naturally.
Persistent health and disaster consequences
Added persistent Health ailments that can last for multiple Sim days and continue affecting motives until recovery.
Added visible custom moodlets for illnesses such as Respiratory Illness, Influenza, Pneumonia, Dental Pain, Back Strain, Vertigo Episode, Severe Fatigue, and more.
Added disaster aftermath moodlets for floods, fires, storms, gas exposure, meteor near-misses, sinkholes, swarms, earthquakes, infestations, and other Danger events.
Fatal Danger branches only apply a survivor aftermath when the Sim actually survives the existing death roll.
Emotional aftermaths
Added a reusable library of emotional moodlets across Everyday, Money, Work, School, Friendship, Romance, Family, and Rivalry.
Examples include Financial Relief, Money Panic, Career Momentum, Workplace Humiliation, Academic Pressure, Friendship Reaffirmed, Betrayed by a Friend, Jealous, Relationship Doubts, Family Betrayal, Vindicated, Furious at an Enemy, and more.
The companion moodlet package now contains 64 custom Drama Engine moodlets in total.
Real relationship-state consequences
Appropriate proposal choices can now attempt to create the game's real engagement/fiancé state.
“Make It Official” can attempt to create the real committed-partner state.
Explicit breakup/divorce outcomes can remove the applicable commitment state instead of only reducing the Romance bar.
Dedicated move-in outcomes can attempt a real household transfer when household capacity allows it.
Delayed NPC advice about leaving a partner can use the same native breakup path.
Patch-sensitive relationship changes are verified after execution; Drama Engine does not claim success unless the game confirms the state change.
Explicit event metadata
All 8,792 catalog choices now have explicit structural metadata.
Memories, emotional aftermaths, native relationship actions, and compatibility corrections no longer depend on scanning English prose or button wording.
Rewriting an event can no longer accidentally change its gameplay meaning because a word such as “stolen” or “exposed” happened to appear in the text.
Visible NPC behavior after consequences
Persistent grudges and favors can now affect what Sims physically do when they meet.
Betrayed or hostile Sims can autonomously insult or argue.
Severe grudges combined with very poor relationships can rarely escalate to a fight.
Grateful Sims can compliment or hug Sims they appreciate.
Betrayed romantic partners favor cold confrontation and arguments rather than instantly escalating to violence.
The system is deliberately restrained: it does not cancel player-directed interactions, does not normally force the selected Sim to initiate, requires both Sims to be present, and uses pair cooldowns plus a household daily cap.
Mechanical and targeting fixes
Promotion outcomes now call the real promotion path where intended and verify the result.
Motive changes use the real visible motive statistics and are read back after application.
NPC advice consequences follow the NPC the story is about instead of automatically affecting the active Sim.
Coworker/classmate stories require valid peers rather than arbitrary acquaintances.
Money changes are verified against actual household funds.
Lethal outcomes verify actual death before reporting it.
Pets, newborns, infants, and toddlers are excluded from speaking-character roles.
New testing command
`dramaengine.test_behavior <insult|argue|fight|hug|compliment>` can be used to test the new live social-reaction layer.
Compatibility
No external mod dependencies.
Base Game compatible.
The included `DramaEngine_ChaosAndConsequences_Moodlets.package` is part of Drama Engine itself and should be installed alongside the `.ts4script`.
Script Mods must be enabled in The Sims 4 settings.
