Dinner's Coming!

Ever tell one Sim to Serve Dinner, only for the rest of the household to immediately start making cereal, grilled cheese, or some completely separate meal?

Dinner's Coming! fixes that.

While a household Sim is preparing a standard Serve meal, other household members will temporarily stop autonomously starting their own food or grabbing quick meals.

Once the meal is finished, they remain blocked from starting a new meal for a short grace period, giving hungry Sims a chance to notice and grab a serving from the freshly prepared food instead.

• Allows player-directed cooking at any time.
• Allows Sims to grab servings from the finished meal.
• Automatically releases the restriction if cooking is cancelled.
• Normal food autonomy returns afterward.
• Standalone script mod. No external libraries or dependencies required.

WHAT IT DOES NOT DO

This mod does not directly force Sims to eat.
It simply prevents them from starting a separate meal while household food is already being prepared, allowing normal Sims autonomy to choose the prepared meal instead.

INSTALLATION

1. Download the ZIP.
2. Extract DinnersComing.ts4script.
3. Place it in:
   Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods

The script file must not be more than one folder deep.

Example:

Documents
└── Electronic Arts
    └── The Sims 4
        └── Mods
            └── DinnersComing
                └── DinnersComing.ts4script

Make sure Script Mods are enabled in your Sims 4 settings, then restart the game.

BETA NOTICE

This is the first public beta.

Tested behavior includes:
• autonomous food blocking while a household Sim cooks
• quick meal blocking
• player-directed cooking override
• cancellation cleanup
• normal food autonomy returning afterward
• hungry Sims choosing the freshly prepared meal once cooking finishes

Pack-specific appliances, unusual cooking systems, and custom food mods may not yet be fully supported.
