ÐarkLord – Longer Names
Increase the character limit for Sim first names and last names in The Sims 4.
The Sims 4 has a very small name limit, which can be frustrating when creating Sims with longer names, fantasy names, royal names, compound surnames, or more detailed storytelling names.
Longer Names was made to fix that.
With this mod, your Sims can have longer names and surnames, and the game will keep them after saving, exiting, and loading the save again.
Simple. Useful. Straight to the point.
🚀 What’s Included in V1?
Longer first names
The first name limit is increased to 32 characters.
Longer last names
The last name limit is increased to 48 characters.
Save persistence
Longer names remain saved after:
- saving the game;
- exiting the game;
- loading the save again.
No dependencies
No external libraries, no extra frameworks, and no required core mods.
🎮 How to Use
Click on the Sim you want to rename.
Select:
Longer Names > Rename Sim
Enter the new first name and last name.
That is all.
Rename your Sim, save your game, reload your save, and be happy. The longer name will remain saved.
⚠️ Current V1 Limitation
In this first version, if you enter CAS and edit the Sim, the game may apply its natural name limit again.
That means you may need to rename the Sim after editing them in CAS.
I am already working on a way to preserve long names after CAS edits for future versions.

📦 Installation
Download the .zip file and extract it.
Place the mod files directly into:
Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods
In your game settings, make sure these options are enabled:
- Enable Custom Content and Mods
- Script Mods Allowed
Restart the game.
📌 Notes
Current V1 limits:
- First name: 32 characters
- Last name: 48 characters
Known limitation:
- CAS edits may require renaming the Sim again.
Future versions will focus on improving CAS persistence.
