Black Hair for Asian Archetype Sims
This mod provides a simple workaround for players who own the City Living and Snowy Escape expansions and are tired of seeing platinum-blonde haired Asian Sims populating their worlds.
What It Does
- Newly generated Sims that use the Asian Archetype will now spawn with black hair instead of randomly selected colors (which often include platinum blonde).
- This change only affects newly spawned Sims. Existing Sims in your game will remain unchanged.
- A single .package file is provided, compatible with both Snowy Escape (SE) and City Living (CL).
Known Limitations
Unfortunately, there's a separate game issue where Japanese-named families may generate with one Asian child and a random-looking parent (or sibling). These non-archetype family members can still have random hair colors, so you might occasionally see Sims with Japanese names sporting unusual hair (e.g., blonde or other non-black shades). This mod does not address that specific generation mechanic.
Under the Hood
In the base game, most hairs have a blonde swatch marked as allowed for Asian Archetypes. When generating a townie using this archetype, the game selects from 4-5 allowed swatches per hair, giving about a 1-in-4 chance of blonde hair appearing.
I couldn't find an easy way to blacklist blonde hairs for Asian Archetypes or use a range of dark colors without extensive file modifications (which could cause conflicts with other mods). Instead, this mod sets a fixed black hair color for the archetype.
If the chosen shade of black isn't to your liking, feel free to edit the .package file yourself and select a different color. You could even make all Asian Sims platinum-haired if that's your preference!
