Wic Wac Woe

This mod comes in two parts, and you need both. This page is the main page and contains the NPCs, Regular Dude, dialogue and the Special Dagger item (RuneSchema data). Since this category does not allow .lua files, the game logic (Lua) is on a separate page: Wic Wac Woe (Scripts). Neither part works without the other.

About

This mod adds six NPCs scattered around the world, each a master of a classic game: Tic Tac Toe, Rock Paper Scissors, Quoridor, Connect Four, Checkers and Chess. Talk to a master, accept their challenge, and play it out. Beat them to unlock their game for yourself or wager an item to double it if you win.

Once you own the Special Wic-Wac-Woe Dagger, you can use your unlocked games against anything in the world. Hit a creature while holding the dagger and play for its life: win and it falls, lose and you take a hit.

Features

• 6 playable mini-games with custom UI, played in an in-game popup
• 6 Master NPCs, each with their own dialogue, wager limits and game to unlock
• Wagers: stake an item for a chance to duplicate it (rules below)
• Special Dagger, a custom item given by some Regular Dude once you have beaten the Master of Chess
• Game selection wheel: right-click while holding the dagger to choose which unlocked game to play
• Fights against masters never cost you health

How it works

1. Find a master and talk to them (press E). Choose Rules to hear their wager conditions, or Challenge to play.
2. Win to unlock that master's game.
3. Beat the Master of Chess, then talk to Regular Dude and ask about the dagger.
4. Hold the dagger: right-click opens the game wheel, and hitting a creature starts a match against it.

Where to find the NPCs/masters

Wager rules

Wagers can only be made with NPCs. To wager, put the item in hotbar slot 1 and leave every other hotbar slot empty, then pick Challenge.

• Win: you receive a copy of the item.
• Lose: the item (the whole stack) is taken.
• Items with a tier are limited to the NPCs maximum tier. Items without a tier are copied up to the NPCs cap, however many you stake.
• If your wager doesn't meet the conditions you can still play, but nothing is gained or lost.
• The Special Dagger cannot be wagered.

You can also check each NPC's rules in their in-game dialogue.

What's in this download

Data files for RuneSchema (JSON only):

• 6 master NPCs: Tic Tac Toe, Rock Paper Scissors, Quoridor, Connect Four, Checkers and Chess
• Regular Dude, who gives you the Special Dagger once you have beaten the Master of Chess
• Dialogue for every NPC, including each master's wager rules
• The Special Dagger item (a copy of an existing dagger with its own name and description)

Requirements

• RuneScape: Dragonwilds
• UE4SS (set up as required by RuneSchema)
• RuneSchema Community Edition 0.7.7.5m or newer: here.
• Wic Wac Woe (Scripts) (required): here. The Lua page holds the game logic and this page holds the NPCs and item.

Installation

Install in this order:

1. Install RuneSchema and confirm it works, following its own instructions.
2. Extract this download and copy the WicWacWoe folder into: RSDragonwilds\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\RuneSchema\mods\
3. Download Wic Wac Woe (Scripts), extract it, and copy the WicWacWoeScripts folder into: RSDragonwilds\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\ Make sure enabled.txt is inside, and do not rename this folder.
4. Launch the game. Check UE4SS.log for [WicWacWoe] Mod loaded and make sure RuneSchema loads the data without errors.
5. Find your first master (see "Where to find the masters") and good luck.

Unlocks

Unlocked games are stored in unlocked.txt inside the WicWacWoeScripts folder (created automatically). Progress is global, not per world or character. To reset, set a game back to 0 in that file.

Known issues / limitations

• Multiplayer is untested.
• Unlock progress is shared across all worlds and characters.

Uninstall

Delete the WicWacWoe and WicWacWoeScripts folders and remove the WicWacWoe: 1 line. RuneSchema removes only the missing item references from saves, but back up your saves first anyway.
