Description

Dragon Mounts adds four rideable dragons mounts and a new questline featuring Hannibus to RuneScape: Dragonwilds.

Hannibus has set up a research camp in the Whispering Swamp, and he could use an adventurer's help. Follow the signs of dragon activity, lend a hand with his investigations, and earn your first dragon mount.

Features

  • Four dragon mounts: Green, Blue, Red and Black, each with a fitted saddle and its own entry in the Mounts menu.
  • Hannibus and his research camp: Meet the ilujanka dragon rider in the Whispering Swamp, with new dialogue and two quests.
  • Flight and ground travel: Ride across the land, take off, gain height, boost through the air and return to the ground.
  • Native quest integration: Follow your objectives through the game's quest journal and map markers.
  • Keyboard and controller support: Use the game's mount controls, with additional controls for flight.
  • Flight stamina: Powered flight uses the game's stamina bar, with a controlled descent when stamina runs out.

Mount unlocks

Find Hannibus's camp in the Whispering Swamp and ask about his research to begin Signs Beneath the Ash. His follow-up quest, A Rider's Promise, requires completion of both Signs Beneath the Ash and the game's Regicide quest, and unlocks the Green Dragon.

Blue, Red and Black Dragons are unlocked through rare drops:

Mount How to unlock it
Green Dragon Complete Hannibus's A Rider's Promise quest.
Blue Dragon Obtain a mount unlock item from a lesser blue dragon.
Red Dragon Obtain a mount unlock item from a lesser red dragon.
Black Dragon Obtain a mount unlock item from a lesser black dragon.

Blue, Red and Black unlock items each have a 1% drop chance from their corresponding lesser dragon. Pick up the item and use it from your inventory to unlock the mount. Each kill is a separate roll, so a drop is never guaranteed after a set number of kills.

Once unlocked, select your dragon from the Mounts menu and summon it using the game's usual mount action.

Flight controls

Action Keyboard Xbox controller
Take off or ascend Space A
Descend or request landing C B
Boost Shift Sprint input

Riding off a high ledge also starts flight automatically.

Flight stamina

Takeoff costs 6 stamina. Powered flight uses 0.75 stamina per second, or 2 per second while boosting. Ascending adds up to 0.5 per second. Stamina does not regenerate during powered flight.

When stamina runs out, boosting and climbing stop and your dragon makes a steerable descent while you remain mounted. Stamina recovery resumes after powered flight ends. Automatic ledge gliding has no initial takeoff cost.

Installation

  1. Close Dragonwilds and back up your character and world saves.
  2. Extract the ZIP and open its DragonMounts folder. Copy DragonMounts_P.pak, DragonMounts_P.ucas and DragonMounts_P.utoc into RSDragonwilds/Content/Paks/~mods inside your game installation. Create the ~mods folder if needed. Keep all three files together.
  3. If updating, replace the previous Dragon Mounts files.
  4. Launch the game normally.

No UE4SS, RuneSchema or additional script loader is required.

Compatibility and saves

Solo play is supported. Multiplayer support is included as an experimental beta.

Solo play tested on Dragonwilds 1.0.1.0 (Steam build 25812671).

The host, every joining player and any dedicated server must have the same game and mod versions installed.

Mods that replace the same loot tables, Mounts menu or quest catalogue may require a compatibility patch.

Keep a save backup. Characters with saved dragon mounts, unlock items or Hannibus quest progress may fail to load if the mod is removed. Keep it installed when continuing those saves.

Quest guides (spoilers)

These walkthroughs reveal the objectives, required materials and rewards for both Hannibus quests. Open a guide if you need a hand finding the next step.

Signs Beneath the Ash

  1. Find Hannibus at his camp in the Whispering Swamp. Talk to him, ask if you can help with his research, and accept the quest.
  2. Follow the quest marker to the old roost southeast of camp. Inspect the scraped landing, damaged shed scale and disturbed remains in any order. All three are within the marked search area. Look for the quest sparkles and interact with the named signs; ordinary bone piles do not count.
  3. Return to Hannibus and report what you found. Bring him 3 Rough Cloth and 5 Harralander, with one free inventory slot. Ask him to prepare the treatment bundle.
  4. Take the bundle to the safe approach at the old roost and interact there to leave it for the dragon.
  5. Return to Hannibus to finish the quest and receive one Lesser Antipoison. Make room in your inventory if he cannot give you the reward.

The dragon withdraws to recover. There is no waiting timer, and this quest does not unlock a mount yet.

A Rider's Promise

  1. Complete Signs Beneath the Ash and the game's Regicide quest. Then speak to Hannibus and accept his invitation to return to the dragon.
  2. Go to the old roost and interact at the safe approach to meet the recovered dragon. Return to Hannibus and tell him how the meeting went.
  3. Bring Hannibus 10 Hard Leather, 4 Padded Cloth, 6 Wool Thread, 2 Iron Bars and 2 Vault Shards. Hand over the materials so he can prepare the saddle and harness.
  4. Return to the dragon at the old roost. Interact at the safe approach and choose “Fit the saddle.” You must complete this step before accepting the partnership.
  5. Return to Hannibus and choose “I'm ready to accept the partnership.” This completes the quest and unlocks the Green Dragon in the Mounts menu.
