Description
FrostBear adds a frozen polar-bear boss to Minecraft’s snowy regions, with a two-phase fight, frost-based combat, and rewards worth bringing home.
A fight that changes halfway through
The FrostBear has 350 base health and an armoured front. Circle around its guard, use fire to melt its defences, or bait a charge into a wall to create an opening.
In its first phase, the bear attacks with claw combos, charges, sweeping frost breath, ground slams, and roars. At half health, it enters Heart of Winter, becoming faster and adding ice rings, marked leaps, and Glacial Cataclysm.
Watch the attack tells, move out of marked areas, and use solid cover when the bear begins channelling Cataclysm. Nearby players increase its health for group encounters.
Frostbite and warmth
Frost attacks build Frostbite stacks, slowing movement and eventually preventing sprinting. At five stacks, the target Shatters, taking damage before gaining a short period of protection against further stacks.
Campfires and other nearby heat sources gradually remove Frostbite, giving preparation a place in the fight.
Claim your rewards
- Frozen Heart: grants two minutes of Heart of Winter, temporary regeneration, and a frost aura that affects nearby exposed hostile mobs. The boss’s own frost can still pierce its protection.
- Glacial Core: a material used to craft and repair Frostfang.
- Frostfang: a sword that applies Frostbite, deals bonus damage to Frostbitten targets, and unleashes a forward wave of ice spikes.
- Warming Stew: a recovery meal that removes Frostbite stacks and can be eaten at full hunger.
- Frozen Heart Trophy: a placeable ice-heart display with a faint glow and drifting snowflakes.
Three advancements mark your journey from the first encounter to crafting Frostfang.
