The Third Knock (Tung Tung Horror)

A story-driven folk-horror adventure map for vanilla Minecraft Java 26.2. The man who knocks to wake the village is gone. Something is still knocking.

THE THIRD KNOCK

The village that slept through the last call.

Your grandfather Rahmat wrote you one letter in forty years. It says: come to Desa Kajeng. Come before Thursday. Do not sleep in this village until you have spoken with me. Whatever you hear at night, hear it AWAKE.

The letter is dated three weeks ago. Thursday was twelve days ago.

A complete story campaign in vanilla Minecraft. No mods. No installer. It's a world you download: twelve chapters across a bounded valley village, two extra dimensions, three endings. Progress moves when you finish the night's work — nothing in the game ever asks you to wait.

THE RULES ARE THE HORROR

  1. A knock at night is never answered early.
  2. Looking at it freezes it.
  3. Keep looking and it takes you.

The third knock is the only one you answer.

WHAT'S INSIDE

  • Desa Kajeng — a village of stopped clocks, eight named graves, six dead lanterns, a clinic that never locks, and a warded boundary walked monthly by a family that is no longer here to walk it.
  • Seberang — the other side. An escape mission with a live count, under a moon you should not stare at.
  • THE PURSUIT — if it catches you staring, you wake somewhere else, and the way out is not behind you.
  • A monster that hunts by sound and light, freezes under your eyes, and counts — never kills, counts — whoever answers the door.
  • Missions with verbs: carry a flame that dies if you run, stand a sanctioned night watch, answer two doors with one pair of hands, mend the boundary with borrowed thread, and walk the dawn route the way he walked it ten thousand times.
  • Everything is original. Every block placed, every sound, every piece of music, every model and letter and journal page was made for this map. The score is a dark gamelan written for the village that plays it.

Playtime:1-2hours Players: singleplayer — designed, tuned and tested for one player alone in the dark. Difficulty: adventure — no building, no grinding, no combat skill required. Headphones strongly recommended; set your volume to a comfortable level BEFORE the first night.

CONTENT & SAFETY NOTICES — PLEASE READ BEFORE PLAYING

  • Photosensitivity / epilepsy warning: contains sudden full-screen static, brief flashing imagery, and flickering lights. If you are sensitive to flashing light, do not play this map.
  • Jumpscares: yes — authored, not constant, and always on the map's rules. Sudden loud sounds included: screams, drums, a voice.
  • Sustained dread and chase sequences: being hunted, being watched, timed escapes.
  • Themes: loss and grief; the disappearance of a whole village, children included (told through carved wooden figures and empty rooms — nothing graphic); a community's folk ritual and the cost of abandoning it; blood traces; one hanged figure (a carved wooden body, ritual imagery). No graphic gore.
  • Darkness by design: the map controls light deliberately. Playing with modified brightness or fullbright will break the experience (and several scares).
  • Recommended for ages 13+.

INSTALL — ONE FILE, ONE FOLDER, TWO MINUTES

  1. Create a vanilla Java 26.2 profile — no modloader, no mods.
  2. Unzip the download into your saves/ folder. You should end up with saves/The Third Knock/ with level.dat inside it.
  3. Open the world. That's it — the resource pack ships inside the world and loads automatically. No prompt, no second folder.
  4. Read the letter on the table.

There is no separate resource pack download and you don't need one. If you somehow get plain fonts and no music, your unzipper made a nested folder: you want saves/The Third Knock/level.dat, not saves/The Third Knock/The Third Knock/level.dat.

SETTINGS THAT MATTER

  • Render distance 12+ (the valley's sightlines are built for it)
  • Particles: All (the fog is load-bearing)
  • Sound: Music and Ambient at 100% — the score is the narrator
  • No shaders that brighten nights. The dark is the game; brightness stays where the map puts it.

STREAMING & VIDEOS

Absolutely yes — clips, streams, and full playthroughs are welcome. A link back to this page is appreciated. Spoiler courtesy: tag videos that show the endings or Seberang.

Version: requires Minecraft Java 26.2 exactly, vanilla. Not compatible with older versions or Bedrock. Singleplayer only.
