Shipwreck survivors survive by using resources from the ocean itself (fish, birds, rainwater), items from the shipwreck (boats, supplies, life jackets), air bubbles in sunken cabins, and mainly through mental resilience, attachment to faith or family, as seen in the cases of José Alvarenga (14 months adrift) or Harrison Okene (60 hours at the bottom of the sea).
Harrison Okene: Nigerian cook who lived for 60 hours in an air pocket inside a sunken tugboat, 30 meters deep, and was rescued as the sole survivor.
