Rainbow's Foliage (Polytone Edition) + MoreCulling Patch
Rainbow's Foliage resource pack gives us some beautiful leaves, but it can be quite a FPS hit without a leaf culling mod - especially in heavily forested areas. The problem is these leaves can't normally be culled by leaf culling mods. However! This patch lets these leaves be recognised by the MoreCulling mod (or even other culling mods).
Up to +50% FPS
I've been able to go from 80 FPS to 120 FPS using this patch, which is a +50% FPS increase (see gallery). This is in a heavily modded minecraft pack with shaders installed on a RTX 5070 graphics card.
Suggested Settings
Use the "Fast" leaf culling setting for the most FPS, however I suggest setting it to the "Depth" setting with an amount of 1. I find this keeps the leaves less see through compared to "Fast" while still regaining a large amount of FPS.
Minor Visual Leaf Block Side Effects
Ofcourse, as with any leaf culling, leaves may seem less bushy or more "see through", but for those looking for more FPS this is a worthwhile tradeoff. Also, depending on the culling due to how these leaves work, you may see 1 or 2 leaf faces "disappear" when placing a solid block next to leaves, but with how bushy these leaves are its a minor thing.
I made this patch for myself and I usually don't upload my patches, but I think this can help alot of people.
