Description

Rainbow Redstone

This is a fully vanilla compatible resource pack for any version 1.13 and above, that makes the redstone dust rainbow (meaning you don't need any mods to use this!). It also offers full customization in-game of many different aspects listed below, however this requires the ResPackOpts mod. Other rainbow components are coming soon, check out the gallery to see how this currently looks like!

Features:

  • In-Game Customization of: (ResPackOpts required, mc version 1.20.1+)
    • Redstone dust color per signal strengh
    • Redstone dust type
    • Redstone dust distance off the surface
    • Signal strengh numbers
    • Signal strengh numbers color
    • Signal strengh numbers offset from the redstone dust they're on
    • Redstone dust item type
  • Full vanilla useability (without the customization)
    • Color customization for dust available in vanilla from mc 1.17+
  • Compatibility with sodium and any other mods and resource packs
    • Color customization with sodium present is not functional, however all other features still work and the game still displays the texture as normal

Feature availability

How to change colors without respackopts and/or in versions <1.20.2:

1. Either un-zip the pack as a folder, or open it using 7zip or winrar | 2. Head to the following directory inside of the pack: "Rainbow Redstone 1.0.0\assets\minecraft\shaders\core\" | 3. Open the file "default_colors.glsl" (recommended: make a backup of it first) | 4. Change any numbers you wish that say "red", "green" or "blue" beside them, they're organized by signal strengh, with the colors for the in-game numbers being at the bottom of the file | 5. Save the file and close it, if needed, click "yes" on the 7zip/winrar popup to update it in the archive | 6. Put it in your resource pack folder like normal, and activate it in-game, or if it's already active, then click F3 + T in-game | 7. Enjoy! (p.s. please make sure you only ever have 1(!!) version of the pack in your resource pack folder at a time, even if they're not activated)

Coming soon:

  • Rainbow redstone components, including repeaters, comparators, torches, etc
  • Animations for rainbow effects
  • Changes for dust particles with the help of mods (or core shaders potentially)

Important: if you want in-game customization, please install the ResPackOpts mod along side this resource pack. I also highly recommend you do this anyways if you're already using a fabric/neoforge modpack.

Inspiration and inital code/files for blockstate and models for the dust were taken from TCTC Cherry, altho at this point the pack has 0 resemblence to the original idea, as everything has been modified and re-build from ground up.

License: All Right Reserved. You are allowed to use this resource pack in any modpack as long as you don't change it and link it back to this page. You are not allowed to use it for any AI training or analysis of any sort. Uploading it in any public channels or locations is prohibited (including public discord servers), share the link to this page instead. You are allowed to showcase this project anywhere and to anyone, including to in youtube videos, as long as you add a link to this page in the description.
