Mobs & Monsters Addendum
Apologies for the rapid releases. I keep finding quirks to fix and want you to have the most up to date versions as I am using them.
▫️ Crafter and other interfaces added
Not the best implementation, but it works and looks decent. If Mojang overhauls the GUI in 1.22 I think I'm going to scream.
▫️ Discs Parity
Redid all of the Music Discs so they are in parity for style. Overall based on Faithful 32x, though both Faithful and John Smith Legacy seem to screw up their PNG files and forget the actual transparency. These issues were fixed in Ozocraft Remix.
▫️Cats, Dogs etc
Brought them up to speed, and fixed transparency issues inherited from John Smith Legacy. Originals lacked transparency and their eyes were blocked.
▫️ Spiders fixed (reverted)
Variations worked, however there didn't seem to be a way to do eyes variations for emissive.
▫️Blaze Rod now matching Breeze Rod.
The original "Flaming" rod is still in the pack as a BAK name. I wanted to bring the texture to parity with the new Breeze Rod for this release. Faithful 32x version
▫️Emissive Tweaks
I kinda figured Glowsquid Ink Sacks should prolly glow, right? Same for Magma Cream and Glowstone Dust. I tried to alter opacity for the emissive textures to tone the glow down a bit, but they do glow now.
▫️Bookshelves
Looked into it, and found no apparent issues. All textures are there, and I see no issues on my side with Fabric and CITResewn etc. If you're getting weirdness with this, take a screenshot with Gyazo or Lightshot to the cloud and post the link in comments so I can see what you're seeing.
▫️Skeletons
Skeletons (including variations) have blue glowing eyes for Emissive (Optifine or Fabric). If you're close enough to see glow of their eyes...
▫️**Zombies*
Zombies have two extra variations, and all eyes subtly glow red.
▫️Some 1.22 Preliminary additions
It's still early for 1.22 inclusions, but threw in some stuff for The Creaking and Pale Forest. Of course, these may change going forward.
▫️Stairs
For what is becoming a running theme (Ozocraft's version of Removing Herobrine), I still have no idea how to change the facing direction of some stairs. If anyone knows how, please message me.
Lore Theory
Oh, you're still reading the Update Notes? Cool. So if you've ever wondered why I make certain design choices for Ozocraft Remix, it's because I base them on the implied lore of Minecraft. The sort of stuff only the nerds wanna know (Archeology and History). For you, read below for some insights.
The choice for Zombie and Skeleton eye emissive color (glowing) is based on the assumption that Zombies are reanimated due to Redstone and Fungus (Mutant Radioactive Mushroom) as an equivalence to Redstone being closest to the real-world counterpart of Radium, a radioactive substance and the presence of Mooshroom Islands (giant mushrooms and Mycelium).
This lore lines up with a Zombie Apocalypse situation of a society of ancient builders over-using radioactive substances without understanding the long term effects of exposure that would build up as Redstone is more heavily used in society, increasing the radiation dosage to the public (Look up Radium Necrosis on Google). Also explains why none of the survivors use Redstone for anything, as such an apocalypse would forbid society from ever using it again, and so the "technology" was lost as was the knowledge of it mostly from abstinence - with the exception of Villagers that brew potions (limited knowledge). Gives a new understanding with using Redstone and putting it in your potions to drink...
As for Skeletons, I wouldn't think they are being animated by radiation (like Zombies), but by arcane means, another "taboo" of the ancient builders. As such, their eye color of reanimation mimics Lapis (magic) as it does with Soul Torches, Lanterns and Enchanting. If you look in Woodland Mansions, the Illagers build wool statues of an Illager that has a Lapis block in the head - which means they associated consciousness with magic properties. The Evoker works heavily in arcane magic (more unholy), and as such they carry a Totem of Undying. This is likely an item that was used in the great war (ancient builders, piglins, etc) to reanimate soldiers and bring them back from death on the battlefield - however, as it is an item made with magic (Lapis), just like Redstone radiation buildup, there comes a point where overuse of reanimation becomes nearly permanent as the magic has saturated the user - explaining the armies of Skeletons that continually reanimate. As a side note - XP Orbs as we call them seems to be the Life Force (soul?) of things we are collecting to use in magic (actual sacrifice). Inanimate items like Ore Smelting etc are "Gaia Essence" related.
On a side note - The running theory about the Ancient Builders trying to escape the Wither is likely incorrect. Observation of the evidence left behind says the Wither was a Golem of War used predominantly in the Nether against Piglins and their Bastions. Think about it - the Wither is native to the Nether as a Golem made up of fallen soldiers and magic (The already corrupted Wither Skeleton skulls that are saturated with Totem magic). The state of the Bastions in utter destruction from the inside, indicates the Ancient Builders unleashed Withers inside the Bastions to do maximum damage.
However, the Ancient Builders were running from something - Probably the Skulk infestation and the Warden. And that would better explain the strongholds and The End. In alignment with the Minecraft Movie, it would seem that the Portal in Ancient Cities would be Cyan, assuming it could be lit. However it seems to only be able to be lit from the other side (which from the Movie would mean the Ancient Builders were trying to build a portal to the 'Real World'). The way the Ancient Cities are built, indicates they assumed more and more living sacrifices to get the gate to open, and they ended up not opening the gate but summoning the Warden(s). Skulk spreads when something dies on it, so when you walk into an Ancient city or the Deep Dark, you can immediately understand the utter and complete bloodbath that had to have happened to have it spread that much.
When you really pay attention, Minecraft is a really dark game...
As always, the Minecraft world operates on a "Show don't tell" mentality, whereby the subtle details of things tell a story for those who are paying attention. In this case, a subtle change in eye color tells a major story about the world and its history, as well as the survivors.
