honestly, the vanilla version of Dried Ghast looks so clean and healthy for its context. literally the Ghast's mother has decayed to her bones and her son seems almost in perfect condition.
In this version, you can notice the deterioration of the defenseless baby, his gills are broken in some places while his innocent mind tries to imagine a better place, with his poor vision he manages to notice how the soulsand slowly takes over his body with force, eating part of his flesh and skin, leaving his ribs exposed. The baby simply lies there, completely helpless, unable to do anything to change its fateful fate... until (perhaps) you arrive and rehydrate it. slowly the water will bring a little hope for this creature, the remaining soul sand will slowly mix with the water until the baby Ghast is moderately stable... speaking of physical state.

after successful rehydration, the little creature manages to float again in this new world. He can feel the fresh air of the Overworld on his revived face, which fills him with hope... but also with a deep fear of what this unknown world can bring to him. his eyes now are open, but his irises are not completely bright due to his confusion and innocence, his body is still injured, his ribs are still exposed and part of his gills are still broken but not as much as it was before.
the trauma of seeing his mother, his only company and family die and staying by his side for years attacks him again like a stab from a sharpness v sword, causing the Ghastling to continue crying while still wishing to be in his mother's arms (or tentacles). His mind is still in a trauma that seems to never end but he also has... you, by saving him, he knows that you are good, that you will not harm him like everyone has done... or maybe, is he wrong?
idk, that just depends on you.
For now, you will have a pet that flies and mewls.

after feeding with snowballs or waiting to grow, the Ghast will slowly become an crying adult, a little more independent but not really happier. His eyes still don't shine completely, that will never happen, his tears cover his cheeks, but he doesn't cry as much as he did as a child. now the Ghast sees you as his owner, as his savior. Now he allows you to ride him and fly to chase the skies.
despite everything, the adult Ghast is still traumatized and deeply afraid of the dangers of the Overworld, which is why it flies very slowly when you ride it. He knows you won't send him back to endless pain... (I do) but he still takes precautions.

a creature born in a world it doesn't belong to, trapped in literally hellish heat and stalked by the forces of the Nether its entire life. Its mind is filled only with pain and suffering. There's no fresh air here, no fields of flowers, no luscious snowy mountains. All of this makes it a hostile being. You may not harm it, but in its dull eyes, everything is a threat, and wants to kill you as quickly as possible.
Despite everything, the Ghast wants its existence to have a purpose, however small it may be. This leads it to have a child, a small creature just like itself but with a clean brain, unaware of the agony his mother suffers every second. the baby, helpless and wrapped in the horrible conditions of the Nether, the baby is on the brink of death every second, there is no water to keep it alive, the only option left for his mother to give a spark of life to her son is crying, just crying inconsolably every second of her existence, begging for something or someone to get them out of here and take them back home... which will not happen, at least not for her, maybe her son will have better luck.
the Piglin race sees in the Ghast a method of transportation for their collection of gold and power, despite the Ghast being more powerful and agile, The Piglins are one step ahead, seeing that they can not against the adult Ghast, they turn against their children. inocent creatures filled with fear, pain and confusion, the Piglins threaten to cruelly murder their children if the Ghast do not comply for them. when they no longer need them, they kill them and leave their corpses lying in the soulsand valley, and then grab their dying children to exchange them for gold.

Ghast and Happy Ghast spawn eggs:

nothing to say.
Ghast tear:

i try to make it look more like a tear (or just a drop) unlike the vanilla version which looks like a small pearl or something like that.
"Tears" Music Disc:

i found out the existence of this disc like 2 days ago and I wanted to do something more macabre (or just edgy) with that.
(You can only obtain this disc if you return the fireball to a Ghast and kill it, then the Ghast will drop the disc and that's it)
I wanted to take the concept of killing the Ghast for this, by killing it, you are not killing just one more Ghast, you killed a mother who was carrying a child inside her, now the skin and flesh that could form in the baby is scattered and stuck on the disk. The cries heard in the song are not original from the disc, they are the cries of pain of a dead baby Ghast whose remains are on the vinyl.
