What's new

## V4.0

### Optimizations
- Fire animation frame rate halved (frametime 2 → 4 ticks). Reduces how often the GPU has to upload new fire texture frames for lit fire blocks and torches. Visual change is subtle; this is a real, if small, GPU-side saving.
- Particle atlas alpha reduced ~25% (max alpha 127 → 95) across all particles (smoke, splash, explosion smoke, etc.). Lowers per-particle blending cost, most noticeable in particle-heavy scenes like rain, combat, and TNT chains.

### Notes
- Environmental overlays (clouds, vignette, underwater, fog) were left unchanged. They were already reduced to near-minimum in V1/V3 and had no meaningful headroom left to cut without becoming visually broken.
- No changes were made to render distance or rain/snow density — these are client/server settings, not something a resource pack can control, so nothing was added there.
- Shadow/lighting simplification is out of scope for a vanilla resource pack; that requires a shader pack (OptiFine/Iris).

### Compatibility
- Still targets pack_format 42 (supported range 32–46), same as V3.

---

## V3.0

### Fixed
- moon_phases.png was 64×32 (only 2 of 8 phases), causing a broken/glitched moon at night. Rebuilt to the correct 128×64, 8-phase layout.
- gui/icons.png and gui/widgets.png were unused on 1.20.2+ since Mojang split HUD textures into individual sprite files. Added the gui/sprites/hud/ sprite set (hearts, food, armor, air, hotbar, crosshair, XP bar, jump bar) so the minimal HUD actually applies again.

### Removed
- Ineffective animation on stars.png — vanilla's sky renderer doesn't read animation data for this texture, so it never played in-game. Reverted to a static 64×64 texture.

### Kept
- Reduced-opacity fog/underwater overlays, disabled vignette/pumpkin blur, semi-transparent particles, and quiet ambient sounds from V1.

---

## V1.0
- Initial release: hidden HUD icons, simplified clouds, muted ambient/menu sounds, reduced screen overlays.
