Icy's Horse Breeds
A companion resource pack for Icy's Better Horses. Fifteen new breeds for vanilla horses, no mod required.
Icy's Horse Breeds is for players who want the look without the system. No breeding, no bonding, no tack, and none of the mechanics from the full mod. Just vanilla horses that finally look like different animals instead of the same body with different paint jobs.
What's in the pack
Your world stops spawning one horse shape. You'll run into fifteen real breeds, from the small and stocky Icelandic to shires that genuinely dwarf a player. Every breed carries its own coat set, so two horses looking alike is rare, and foals get their own models.

- Foals with unique models
- Saddles and armor fitted per breed
- Fresh-Animations-style motion, with walking, trotting, galloping, and swimming tuned for each breed
It's visual only. Underneath, these are still plain vanilla horses. Taming, breeding, and riding behave exactly as they always have.
What you need
EMF (Entity Model Features) and ETF (Entity Texture Features). The pack is built on OptiFine's model format.
Recommended, not required
Simple Horse QOL. On its own, this pack has one side effect: the big breeds are tall, and riding one puts a wall of horse neck in your face. Simple Horse QOL ships with a camera fix built specifically for this pack. The resource pack works fine without it, but I highly recommend adding it.
Q: Does this need Icy's Better Horses to work?
No. It's a standalone resource pack for vanilla horses. If you already run the mod, the two aren't related. This pack skins vanilla horses, while the mod adds its own horses on top of vanilla's.
Q: Can I use this in a modpack?
Yes, feel free to include it.
Q: Can I repost this to another site?
No, you cannot.
