ClayGrounds Resource Pack — v0.7 → v1.3.4
The ClayGrounds resource pack has evolved from the original v0.7 visual set into the complete visual companion for the modern DAI 4.2 ClayGrounds experience.
v0.7 Visual Baseline
- The retained historical notes identify v0.7 as the original Option B gameplay/entity/item visual set.
- The exact standalone v0.7 asset-by-asset changelog is not preserved in the current pack.
- Those original visual assets formed the baseline carried into the v0.8 development cycle.
NPC Visual Expansion
- Added custom 3-D actor models and textures for all seven major Solmere NPCs:
- Mirelle
- Brakka
- Syl
- Orin
- Reed
- Pella
- Tovan
- Expanded ClayGrounds beyond its original enemy/item visuals into a fully modeled town/NPC presentation system.
Namespaced Item Model Conversion
- Added dedicated namespaced item definitions for every ClayGrounds:
- Weapon
- Skill
- Tonic
- Waystone item
- Removed ClayGrounds-authored model definitions from the vanilla
minecraft:itemnamespace. - Custom item appearance now resolves through
minecraft:item_modelcomponents provided by the matching data pack. - Existing enemy models, NPC models, GUI art, particles, and sounds were retained during the conversion.
Fixed-Camera DAI Environments
- Added fixed-camera 3-D scene environments for character selection and the Network Harbor.
- Expanded the resource pack for the full DAI 4.2 ClayGrounds application shell.
- Added authored scene environments for:
- Main ClayGrounds title
- World Selection
- Local Character Selection
- Network Harbor
- Clay Market
- Pause Menu
- Character Hub
- Options
- World Map
Native Entity Model Rework
- Completely replaced the old multipart enemy visual system with DAI-native mesh assets.
- Added redesigned native models for nine enemies/bosses:
- Clayling
- Sunscorched
- Vinecrawler
- Mossbound
- Canopy Fang
- Claycrest Archer
- Ruins Sentinel
- Kilnbound
- Shorewarden
- Rebuilt all seven Solmere NPCs as native mesh characters.
Entity Design Improvements
- Clayling redesigned as a squat tidal-clay construct with luminous chest seal and shoulder shards.
- Sunscorched redesigned as a tall kiln-cracked guardian with ember core and crown shards.
- Vinecrawler redesigned as a broad root crawler with multiple legs, luminous face band, and trailing body.
- Mossbound receives an asymmetrical overgrown silhouette with heavy moss growth and mismatched limbs.
- Canopy Fang becomes a compact eight-legged canopy predator with forward fangs and glowing eyes.
- Claycrest Archer receives a hooded ruin-archer silhouette with integrated bow geometry.
- Ruins Sentinel becomes a heavy plated guardian with shield profile and cyan rune core.
- Kilnbound becomes a furnace-bodied brute with chimney crown and emissive kiln door.
- Shorewarden receives a full boss redesign with massive pauldrons, sea horns, fins, and a tidal core.
- Mirelle, Brakka, Syl, Orin, Reed, Pella, and Tovan each receive unique role-readable silhouettes and accessory geometry.
Texture Rework
- Added new 32×32 material sets for every redesigned native entity.
- Each entity uses:
- Main clay/cloth material
- Contrasting accent material
- Emissive rune/core material
- Added fullbright emissive sections through DAI native mesh rendering.
- Removed the previous enemy/NPC item-display texture-sheet system.
- Removed global transparent zombie, spider, and skeleton overrides so normal vanilla mobs are no longer unintentionally hidden.
Native Mesh Compatibility
- v1.3.x retains the full native entity visual redesign.
- Pack-side render-distance compatibility work keeps the new models visible without reverting to the old multipart rig system.
- No engine-patched resource format is required by the current release.
MapleStory-Inspired Pause Artwork
- Added a custom fullscreen illustrated ClayGrounds harbor pause background.
- Replaced the previous heavier 3-D pause-camp presentation with a static illustrated scene.
- Visual direction uses:
- Bright island-RPG scenery
- Solmere harbor imagery
- Wood/parchment UI framing
- Cartoon fantasy styling
- ClayGrounds-specific branding
- Artwork is paired with live DAI button/UI layers rather than relying on baked-in decorative menu text for functionality.
Current Pause Presentation
- The same visual pause interface is now used whether the player enters it through Grave or the normal Escape menu.
- v1.3.4 retains the v1.3.3 pause artwork unchanged while the matching data pack handles ESC routing.
Compatibility
- Remains the matching visual companion for the current ClayGrounds DAI 4.2 data pack.
- No modified DAI Engine JAR is required.
- Current release: ClayGrounds Resource v1.3.4 for DAI 4.2.
