I've always loved the vanilla textures of Minecraft. However, I always thought it would be cool if certain repetitive items had unique textures, with enchanted books being one of these items. So I set out to make a unique texture for every enchanted book how I imagine Mojang might some day. This pack attempts to make every enchanted book feel unique while emulating the vanilla art style. I have been using this pack playing casually while developing it and it has certainly enhanced my immersion and gameplay experience. I hope it will do the same for you.

Identification

I attempted to make a predictable and understandable pattern for how the books look in their most basic form. These traits are observable in almost every enchanted book barring a few exceptions that break the pattern slightly for aesthetic purposes.

Enchanted Book Level

All book textures have slightly altered variants meant to display the level of the enchantment applied to the book. As the level of the enchantment grows a badge on the ribbon of the book will change to a higher tier mimicking the appearance of the badges villagers use to display their profession level. Additionally, the higher the enchantment value of the book, the larger the book will appear.

In the image above, A level I enchanted book can be seen on the left with the level increasing until it reaches level V on the right, with this being the maximum level available for certain books in vanilla survival Minecraft. In game, all level 5 enchanted books are animated with a pulsing aura.

Enchanted Book Type

The majority of books in this pack derive their most basic texture elements from predictable base templates for different book types. These templates are split into two major parts, book color, and ribbon color. Each have many variants with looks based on enchantment features like, armor enchantment books, weapon enchantment books, tool enchantment books, or cursed books.

In the image above, The default book and ribbon colors can be seen at the top of the chart. The lower section displays the different major book and ribbon templates with some minor ribbon templates also being displayed in the bottom right.

The Final Product

After adding the components of the basic book and ribbon textures together, as well as taking the time to make each different enchantment book look distinct and unique. Then making a texture variant for each standardly available level of each respective enchanted book, We now finally have a unique texture for every basic enchanted book in vanilla Minecraft.

It is worth mentioning that some book textures are animated and so cannot be properly displayed in this image alone. All books with animated textures display only their first frame in these images, however, they should play as normal in-game.

The Future of Asa's Enchanted Books

I plan on keeping this pack up to date with the latest (full release) Minecraft versions. However, new pack versions may not be available immediately after the release of new Minecraft updates as I work at my own pace. I also fully intend on making this pack compatible with certain mods, as well as a bare bones version of this texture pack since it is similar to the pack used in the official Minecraft promotional videos. I may also eventually make a 32x resolution version of this pack if there is enough interest.

You are allowed to alter Asa's Enchanted Books as long as it's not distributed. Do not reupload any instance of the Asa's Enchanted Books resource pack. You are allowed to use Asa's Enchanted Books in a modpack, and in forms of content such as videos, live streams, and blog posts as long as proper credit is given.
