What's new
PlunderPixels Shader v2.1.0 (2026-07-25)
A fix release, and the headline is one you can feel: wind shelter finally reaches the grass. Everything below is a fix or a new setting; nothing was removed, and no existing setting changes meaning. Pairs with WindLink 0.1.1 and PlunderEngine 0.1.1 - update all three together.
Wind shelter now works
- Standing behind a wall now means something. Walls, hills and canopy have always been worked out properly behind the scenes, but only one part of a blade's motion was listening: the lean. The gust whip, the sideways hunt, the constant base flutter and the draft off passing debris all carried on at full strength no matter what you sheltered behind. The base flutter alone is loud enough that a large wall looked like it was not there at all. Every part of the motion now quiets down together, so the lee of a wall is genuinely calm while the windward side keeps its full gust.
- Shelter no longer arrives in stripes. The wind's search for what was blocking it stepped in 2.5-block strides, which walks clean over a wall one block thick - it found the wall roughly every fifth column, and never for the blocks closest to it. It now checks every block for the first stretch, so shelter fades smoothly outward from a wall and is strongest right at its base, where you would expect. Natural slopes shelter a little more than before as a side effect, since small steps close to you are no longer skipped.
- Grass debris respects shelter too. Blades used to tear loose in the dead air behind a wall at exactly the same rate as on the exposed side. Shedding now follows the wind that actually reaches each spot, so a passing front strips the exposed field while the sheltered side stays still. (Needs WindLink.)
New settings
- Terrain Steering is now visible in the settings, and turned up to full by default. It had a value but appeared in no menu, so it sat at half with no way to reach it - and since it also governs how much shelter reaches the plants, everything the wind worked out was being halved on the way to your eyes. Turn it down if you want the valley funnelling gentler, but know that it costs shelter too.
- Waving Distance, up to 512 blocks (it was fixed at 112). Where distant foliage stops waving is now yours to set, and the related internal limits follow it automatically instead of needing to be matched by hand.
- Border Seal Point, for packs whose horizon fade has been moved from the default. Waving is not paid for beyond the point where the sky has fully replaced the land; if you have changed the border fade, match this to it.
Other fixes
- Distant grass is no longer blown off its block. The bend was measured from the companion mod's ground-height data, which only reaches so far; further out the lookup wrapped around and reported the ground height of somewhere else entirely, so a distant plant's base was treated as though it were high in the air. It took the full tip-strength push and slid sideways off its block. The bend now comes from the plant's own block height, full stop.
- Distant bamboo and sugar cane no longer bend from the base instead of swaying from it, at ranges where the mod's ground data no longer reaches.
- Performance: distant foliage no longer pays for a wind-detail lookup whose result was thrown away, and terrain steering eases off with distance rather than running at full detail everywhere.
