Best Halloween Shader is a spooky shader pack for Minecraft Java Edition that turns your world into a foggy Halloween night: a giant blood moon, thick fog between the trees, candlelit pumpkins and the occasional thing on your screen that shouldn't be there.

It was made and tested on a laptop with integrated graphics, so the default profile is built to run on modest PCs. If you have a stronger GPU, the Medium and High profiles add real-time shadows and smoother fog.

- Low ground fog that settles in valleys

- Ghostly shapes that drift through the fog at night

- Moon and sun rays through the fog

- Torches, lanterns and jack o'lanterns that flicker like candles

- Pumpkins that slowly glow brighter and dimmer

- Dynamic lights: holding a torch lights up the area around you

- Soft shadows (Medium and High)

- Bloom on torches, lava and glowing blocks

- Autumn leaves in orange, red and gold, plus dry grass

- Waving leaves and plants

- Dark, murky water with waves and moon reflections

- Distant lightning that lights up the clouds

- Bats flying across the moon and crows during the day

- 5 color styles: Classic Halloween, 80s Film, Old Black & White, Nightmare and Ghost Green

- Film grain, vignette and chromatic aberration

- Custom Nether: smoke, embers and lava glow that change color with each biome

- Living lava with a moving crust and heat haze above it

- Nether portals tinted by the biome you're in

- Custom End: purple sky with slowly moving curtains of light

- Purple End portal with glowing, blinking ender eyes

- Red heartbeat around the screen when you're low on health

- Rare screen glitches inside the Pale Garden and the Dappled Forest

- Slight wobble in total darkness

- Sensitive mode that removes distortions and tones down flashes

• Halloween mode

From October 30 to November 3 the shader switches to Halloween mode by itself: more fog and more frequent scares. You can also force it on or off in the menu.

• Performance

The Low profile (default) has no shadows and uses lighter fog, so it runs on integrated graphics. Medium and High add shadows and more detail for dedicated GPUs.

If you need more FPS: lower your render distance or turn off the volumetric fog in the shader menu. The optional 3D clouds are the heaviest effect, so leave them off on low-end PCs.

 

• Requirements

- Minecraft Java Edition 26.3

- Fabric Loader

- Iris 1.11.7 or newer

- Sodium (installed together with Iris)

• Installation

1. Install Fabric/Forge, Iris and Sodium (the official Iris installer does it for you).

2. Download the Best Halloween Shader .zip file. Don't unzip it.

3. Put the .zip in your .minecraft/shaderpacks folder.

4. Open Minecraft and go to Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs.

5. Select BEST Halloween Shader and click Apply.

6. Pick a profile (Low, Medium or High) in the shader settings and enjoy.

- Not for Bedrock Edition

- OptiFine is not supported
