Umbra Farbuilder's Pack

The Umbra Farbuilder's Pack is dedicated to to scenic views and builds through the use of Distant Horizons, create, and various options for building utility and palettes.

The Umbra Farbuilder modpack is built with the core idea of using Distant Horizons and the Create mod to facilitate builds that have spanning architecture such as trains, bridges and chain drive lines that can be seen from afar. The modpack is also built to have some level of synergy between the various mods.

Multiplayer

First and foremost the pack was built with multiplayer in mind. So beyond the backbone of optimization mods, the following mods are used to expand or accentuate the multiplayer experience.

  • Hardcore Revival - Rez me, rez me. I'M RIGHT THERE.
  • Heartstone - Crafts as a pair to help you find someone else. Has compat with Map Atlas.
  • Beautified Chat - Gives players control to tweak the look and formatting of chat messages
  • Calendarz - An in game calendar system that provides a framework for admins to have events that line up with real world dates
  • Chat Heads - Help keep faces straight so you know who you're talkin to
  • Chat Impressive Animation - Adds a small flair of animation to the usual facets of the chat system
  • Chat Notify - Get notified when mentioned
  • Clickable Advancements - A fantastically simple addition that for some can help facilitate learning more about mods one otherwise would not interact with
  • Longer Chat History [Forge/NeoForge/Fabric]
  • Simple Voice chat - Pretty much what it says on the tin.
  • What Are They Up To - To help satisfy the nosy or impatient at a glance.
  • Emotecraft - Silly ways to wave your arms and hands.
  • Customizable Player Models - A super powerful system that can be fun to show off
    • compat mods for OSC and Simple voice chat included

Create and technology

A major core pillar of the pack, Create offers gears, chains, wood trims, brass and bronze. Steampunk technology made with motion in mind. With such a robust system, there are several addons included as well to complement the mod and provide syngergies with other mods as well.

  • Create: Crafts and Additions - Bringing an intersection between energy and Stress units
  • Oritech - A technology mod that stands on it's own but also is included in the pack for a small oomf. Between it's animated style and it's emphasis on sustainable technology, this mod provides the height of technology for the pack, along with it's many features.
  • Create: Chimneys - For a proper train smoke stack
  • Create: CopyCats+ - Because who needs chisel and bits
  • Create: Design n Decor - To quote their own page: QOL decoration features. More options is always nice.
  • Create Railways Navigator - Makes navigating complicated train networks easier for players looking to travel

Farming, cooking, etc.

Some major additions that aren't too wildly unheard of but should be important to mention. A good strong number of food options and ways to grow the ingredients.

  • Farmer's Delight - Buffs how you grow and cook food to add more options.
    • Several addons included as well, including Create: Central Kitchen and Create: Integrated Farming
  • Serene Seasons - Take note of the seasons to rotate crops, or make greenhouses to grow crops year round.
  • Quality Food - Incentivizes manually maintaining crops or finding more ingenious systems for automated farms to get the best quality ingredients for whatever foods you wish to make.
  • Pam's Harvestcraft 2 - An old classic, unfortunately currently lacking support for serene seasons
  • Productive Trees - Essentially a revival of forestry trees and breeding. More wood type options
  • Productive Bees - Forestry bees if they were a mob, farm anything.
  • Cooking for blockheads, Farming for blockheads - Classic additions that are mindful of keeping a kitchen stocked.

For the Builders

From how you build to what you build with, there are a lot of options.

  • Chipped - A large selection of block variants selectable in various workbenches with a nice UI
    • Chilse chipped integration - for the classic chisel blocks. I need me some factory clank clonk steps.
  • Connected Glass - Adds more glass with native CTM
  • Building Gadgets - A handy power based gadget mod with tools for better building.
  • A man with Plushies - For the collectors and fandom reppers out there.

  • Simply Light - Slim and swanky lights of various fixtures.
  • Sooty Chimneys - Mmmm yes particles. Give some villagers a black lung for me, wouldja?
  • Woodworks - Mmmm woodcutter.
  • Xtones Reworked - Taste the rainbow. or build it? Solid color options.

Customization, and gear

Choose how you approach situations, and how you look doing it.

  • Cosmetic Armor Reworked - for those end gamers out there that care about fashion
  • Apotheosis - A powerful suite of modules that tweak or change the game in various ways.
  • Silent gear & Silent's Gems - Mix and match materials to make tools and armor. These powerful pieces have a plethora of positives to pile onto them. Between enchantability, and the various tweaks and perks of the materials and upgrade system (and apotheosis) you have a lot of power at hand for any situation you want to be prepared for.
  • ewewukek's Musket Mod - Muskets. Nuff said. Effectively a nice vanilla themed kind of gun.
  • Enchantment descriptions - on the tin
  • Productive Metalworks - because why have fancy tools, weapons, armor and trains when you aren't having a foundry that's at the center of it all.
  • More Armor Trims [FABRIC/NEOFORGE] - fashion trims are end game
  • Universal Enchants - Makes vanilla enchants more widely usable on more vanilla tools and gear, where it makes sense.

Villages and trading

Because what's the point of large swathes of vistas and infrastructure if there isn't a population that you can profit off of to make it all happen. These mods make trading more expansive and in some cases more convenient. Play nice with them though, as they can actually BE unhappy. You don't wanna see them when they are unhappy.

  • Bartering Station - Centralized, yet free range, piglin trading block.
  • Create: More Features - 10 professions added with specific jobs based around create. Very powerful. Very convenient. Also more blocks, farms, and items.
  • Create: Trading Floor - If you didn't like how powerful
  • Friends&Foes - Beekeeper Hut (Forge/NeoForge) - It's hip to KEEP BEES
  • Guard Villagers - 'Cause those darn testificates can't saev themselves if their life depends on it....
  • Leaf Villager Trader - a profession for more leaf types without waiting for the wandering trader
  • Trading Post [Forge & Fabric] - Centralized free range trading with villagers
  • Travelling and Trading - Wandering trader focussed mod, adding a profession block and more wandering trader goodies. Be wary of striking ol' wanda. They can hurt back if they must.
  • Utilitarian - Among other things in the mod, I added this for control over where and wether the wandering trader spawns. A must if you don't want wanda snoopin about. Trust me, you don't wanna kill wanda every time. Not in this pack.
  • Villager Armor Layer - See if they are actually wearing armor.
  • Villager Death Messages - at least so you can log where they died. runs the risk of being annoying, toggle at your own risk.
  • Villager Hats Mod - fashion is end game
  • Villager Saloon - trade with me parder
  • Villager Tweaks (MDM's Municipal Improvement Initiative) - KEEP VILLAGERS HAPPY. DON'T BE A DINGUS.
  • Villagers follow Emerald Blocks - on the tin.
  • Villages&Pillages - Pillager villages
  • Zombie Villagers From Spawner - on the tin

Structures and exploration

Not a lot going on with these. Just enough to keep the world interesting to explore but sparse enough to give scenic views.

  • Adventure Dungeons - A humble handful of structures.
  • Explorify – Dungeons & Structures - Dem's structures, can't say too much what all's there, but there's some good'uns
  • Create: Structures Arise, Create: Easy Structures - having buildings in world that accomodate create is shnifty. Certainly don't wanna take a wrench and raze them to the ground  wink wink
  • Lootr - So everyone can take a crack at the good stuff. Consider making train stations near the really nice loot spots.
  • Rob's Floating Islands - Because we have the aether at home. (Don't worry, we have the actual aether though)
  • Structure Maps - Somewhat of a villager thing as well, expands the available tradable maps to find more vanilla structures.
  • Yung's Better [Everything, at least so far]  - The comprehensive suite of Yung's structures. plenty of vanilla friendly goodness to explore.

Convenience

'Cause we like the pack to be nice in a few ways.

  • Falling trees - Speeding up the early game just a touch to focus more on building or exploration.
  • Extreme sound muffler - (Neo)Forge - Because this mod can be a saviour of sanity for many.
  • GraveStone Mod (x curios compat) - For when you DIE die, in minecraft.
  • Item Borders [Neo/Forge] - nifty rarity display for inventory ui.
  • Item Highlighter [Neo/Forge] - See what's newly picked up since you last looked
  • Just Hammers - Save your netherite, use these with mending.
  • Just Enough Items (JEI) - search of crafting recipes
  • Just Enough Professions (JEP) - search up trades in JEI
  • Just Enough Resources (JER) - search up mob drops and other things
  • Map Atlases [Forge] - Because having a minimap is nice, but having it be balanced around vanilla with resource investment is even cooler. Also has compat with Heartstone to track your friends.
  • Map Tooltip - See the map as an item tooltip in your inventory.
  • Nature's Compass - Find them biomes.
  • No Animal Tempt Delay - Animals will be laser focussed on you as long as they see that you have what they want.
  • Polymorph (Fabric/Forge/Quilt) - For crafting recipe conflicts to be resolved the easy way. This will no doubt be useful to some chunk of some amount of people some amount of the time.
  • Stack Refill - cause running out of something you know you aren't out of sucks. keep on buildin.
  • Stoneworks - MORE OPTIONS GOOD.
  • Torchmaster - Mobs begone.

The Oddballs

These may or may not necessarily satisfy any core pillar to the pack's design but are included nonetheless

  • The Aether - The quintessential modded dimension, especially for the air. Explore the floating islands, conquer the dungeons, and consider the floating infrastructure that could be made. What would be more scenic than floating railways through the sky?
  • Aquaculture 2 - You know what that means! (Fish)
  • Amendments
  • Supplementary
  • Ambient Environment
  • Mystical Oak Tree - Mhm, yup.
  • Nyf's Spiders - Mhm, nope.

This list is by no means comprehensive but is meant to illuminate my thought processes to adding the various mods.
