Prelude
Towards the end of 2019, my buddy Alex sent me this video - "A Serious Critique of Minecraft" by Whitelight.
After watching the video, I remember thinking, "huh... I wish someone would do something to fix Minecraft in the ways speculated on by Whitelight."
Come to find out, that's just what Curse user TheQKnight sought to do with his modpack, Acquisition.
Wow, and what an experience his modpack is! If you intend to play my pack, then I highly recommend checking out his as well. His work inspired and guided me to create something which draws from my own preferences and also Whitelight's video critique . It was in this way that Tres Tamales was born.
Introduction
Every bit of Minecraft has changed, but remains intuitive to a vanilla player. Your in-game NPC guide, Sensei Saloom, offers a full catalog of items along with a new features list to ease any player into this expereince! Here is his introduction lines:
"I love Minecraft. And look it's a pretty great experience all by itself, but at the same time there's tons of untapped potential. That's why I, Sensei Saloom, have discovered the best community changes to Minecraft and compiled them into a single, documented experience for players like you to enjoy. Here’s a brief mentioning of some of the most pertinent changes:
- Bedrock has been pushed significantly further down.
- Deeper caves take on a nether-like quality.
- Every mob that you kill releases his essence into the atmosphere. This essence slightly empowers all other mobs. Thus, the longer you play, the harder things get!
- There are near-essential items found in dungeons, such as useful baubles, hearts and totems, that cannot be attained through any other means.
- Both exploration and progression is rewarded...by becoming power enough not getting killed.
- When you die, part of your life force gets sent into the void and you will permanently loose half a heart. Fight powerful posses and eat healthy in order to steal some life force back!
- While exploring with friends is a good idea, just know that more players in the same area will lead to mobs feeding off of the players' energies and becoming more powerful.
- Run from total darkness. There is some sort of monster out that lives in darkness - no one has ever seen him attack, but he is deadly.
And lastly… you uh... you can't sleep anymore. I just thought that part of the game was overrated. Sorry!”
Features
Every feature is implemented for one of, or a combination of, these 5 reasons: make Minecraft harder, reward building design, reward hardcore exploration, reward creative crafting, reward steady minning, and/or give the player events to prepare for/avoid.
- - 10 dimensions in total - 8 are documented, while two are left for players to discover themselves!
- - Modded and heavily configured terrain, structure, and dimension generation.
- - In-depth tech, magic, material, tool, mob, and adventure, systems which remain true to Vanilla-style Minecraft
- - Invasiosn! Bloodmoons! No sleeping!
- - Spawn into a mini-quest given by a scholarly custom NPC. Help him out in order to attain his detailed catalog of items, companionship, and features guide.
- - Lots of love (100+ hours worth, that is) in the making of this pack!
