An ongoing small set of mods based around turning Minecraft into a horror, hardcore, and (hopefully) tower defense-like game mode. The days are long but the nights are unforgettable in all of the worst ways, and the caves in either contain things worse than death.
The Hardcore Darkness mod creates a terrifying ambiance along with some environmental cousins including Dynamic Surroundings and Sound Filters. That's just the immediate change, as within the infinite shadows that stretch over an area the light cannot touch, things lurk. The instant life gouging claws of the Grue of the mod with the same name, invisible eyes awaiting to jumpscare you at every corner from the Eyes in the Darkness mod, Spiders, 2.0-ified, crawl on every surface and through any gap, and all of the classics of yesteryear classic Minecraft gain the ability to break and build and smell your scent from miles in any direction thanks to the infamous Epic Siege Mod.
What can you do then? Your torches may go out over time sure and the hordes of imaginable beasts drain your sanity and health with every turn, yeah. But with the help of some friends or friendly strangers, maybe a suitable base and a constant eye on the outer shadows will get you through it? Maybe, just be careful, I hear there's a terrible infestation of horrid parasites swarming- Hope they don't keep getting bigger, they smell awfully bad.
