Through the Seasons

An in-depth survival modpack themed around providing an experience that is both difficult for survival players and enjoyable for builders with the use of realistic season cycles, activities like growing crops and flowers, fishing, and temperature.

The four seasons

Through the Seasons aims to create an immersive and difficult survival experience with extra features like seasons and farming while maintaining the charm that comes out of the typical progression of a Minecraft world. The season transitions and temperature have been fine-tuned through configs, resourcepacks, and datapacks to balance realism and player experience. Features like day length and temperature vary sinusoidally and have been carefully considered. This modpack is heavily focused around the gameplay provided by the mod Ecliptic Seasons and credit goes to joe_vettek for making this modpack even remotely feasible.

*For the best experience, it is highly suggested to live in a temperate biome.

*By default, the shaders provided by the modpack set the sun angle to -40 degrees for the best effect. If you decide not to use this integer, make sure to go into the config for Better Clouds and adjust the sun angle under shader settings to your desired value to avoid issues.

FEATURES

☀️By default, the modpack begins right at the beginning of summer. For the vast majority of climates, early summer is the easiest season to survive in as monsters hardly ever spawn at night and farms grow quickly. With longer days, you will be spending less time sleeping. Thus, summer is the longest season in the modpack. This is the ideal time to build infrastructure, maximize food production, and explore the vast world.

🌡️As you finish building your first home, you may notice that the temperature is getting excessively warm, and staying cool is a challenge. During this time of year, heat becomes a growing issue in hot biomes. Ways to stay cool include keeping a bucket of water handy, crafting an icebox to cool down your home and produce cold waterskins, and going underground or to a colder biome.

🍂Autumn is the second main season this modpack provides. It's the ideal time to gather food and build sufficient, insulated shelter before the coldest time of year arrives. It's the last season that allows most animals like cows and pigs to spawn, so it's a good idea to maximize production.

❄️In contrast to the easy time you may have during the other times of year, Winter is the true test of skill and preparation. Crops no longer grow in most climates, days are short, and animal spawning is halted. If you desperately need food, it's suggested build a greenhouse to grow crops year-round or go to a nearby body of water and catch fish. If freezing or starving isn't your thing, you can always just build a tropical winter getaway in the jungle. Many modded Minecraft players often complain about winter in season mods as snow from old chunks explored in winter continue to have snow lingering when they're reloaded in the summer. With this modpack, don't worry about snow in unloaded chunks as it'll update dynamically with the weather. Even areas that you've never visited will continue to experience snow accumulating and melting.

🌸Spring is the fourth main season this modpack provides. Once temperatures warm up, it's a good time to begin farming, grow in-season flowers in a garden, and explore.

You don't have to survive this mod on your own. It is highly encouraged to bring along a few friends to try to survive the environment together.
