What's new

THE WARBORN REALMS - v0.7.4

A wide mod update: new map features, guns, spells, food and ships, plus performance fixes.

Read this first

  • Update Maps and Quills everywhere at once. A 0.1.4 client cannot join a 0.1.3 server, or the other way round. It still needs Holdfast Factions.
  • NeoForge is now 21.1.259. Shippy Ships needs 21.1.257 or newer, so clients and servers both have to move up from 21.1.256.
  • Cook's Collection is removed. Cultural Delights replaces it. Ovens, lemon trees and salt from Cook's Collection will not carry over, so craft the Cultural Delights versions instead.

Maps and Quills

  • Fog of war. Your faction's map shows the ground your members have actually been near, plus the ground of any faction that shared its map with you (/maq share). Everything else stays dark, and so do the borders on it, so other factions' claims show up once you have explored there. Your own faction's borders always show. A player with no faction explores alone and brings it all along when they join one. Servers that want the old behaviour can set enabled = false under [fog] in warpaint-common.toml. Thanks to ghostcrumb for the idea.
  • The whole map, zoomed out. Zoom far enough out and the map switches to a small picture of each 512-block area sent by the server, so you can see your whole world at once instead of a patch around you.
  • World border on the map and the minimap, with the ground beyond it shaded. There is a "World border" switch in the legend. Thanks to ghostcrumb.
  • Choose line weight and colour before you draw. Pick a line, arrow, box, circle or freehand tool and a small panel next to the toolbar offers Thin, Medium and Thick (each drawn at its real thickness) and six colours. Thanks to ghostcrumb.
  • Minimap north up. A new legend switch keeps the minimap pointed north instead of turning with you. Thanks to ghostcrumb.
  • The legend is split into three groups: On the map, Places and Settings, with a divider between each.
  • Keyboard zoom. Zoom the full map with - and = as well as the mouse wheel.
  • The map no longer flashes when you zoom out. Past a certain zoom it kept throwing away the very parts of the map it was about to draw, so patches blinked in and out and the frame rate dropped.
  • Changed ground no longer flashes black. The old picture stays until the new one arrives.
  • Servers without a website now update maps when the ground changes. Before, a build or a crater only showed up after you relogged.
  • Thin and Medium lines are different widths again. They were drawn the same, so there were really only two weights.
  • Spruce forests are green again. Spruce and birch leaves now use their own fixed colours, as they do in the game. Ground mapped by an older version is redone as people walk past it.
  • Server performance. The map no longer keeps all of its terrain in memory. Before, every chunk the server had ever mapped stayed in memory until a restart, which after pregenerating a large world came to gigabytes. It now keeps a few dozen areas in memory and reads the rest from disk when needed. /maq perf shows how many are loaded. A server without a website no longer builds up a queue of map updates it never sends, and a website that reconnects is sent the map a piece at a time.

Guns and ammunition (Iron's Arms 'n Artifice, Cogs For Arms)

  • Bullet Box. A new item for carrying bullets, with insert and extract sounds. Cogs For Arms adds a Create recipe for it.
  • Soulfire Coin modifier. A new gun modifier, with a Create assembly recipe from Cogs For Arms.
  • Crushed Charcoal. Charcoal can now be crushed in Create (Cogs For Arms).
  • Hexed Hellbringer. A new gun from Cogs For Arms, with its own crafting recipe.
  • Many gun recipes were tweaked, and the new Iron's Arms 'n Artifice items have recipes.
  • The Cogs For Arms blackpowder mixing recipe is fixed.

Magic and enchanting

  • Puppet Chains (IronSable). A new spell. It will not grip anything heavier than its block limit, and tells you the size and the limit when it refuses.
  • Chainsaw shows up earlier (Apothic Enchanting). The axe enchantment now appears at enchanting power 40 instead of 55.
  • Enchantment libraries respect the configured Apoth max when you extract books (Apothic Enchanting).

Ice and Fire Community Edition

  • Hydra Heart is weaker. A Hydra Heart in a charm slot now gives Regeneration III, II and I below 25%, 50% and 75% health, down from IV, III and II.

Food, farming and building

  • Cultural Delights adds the Beanstalk wood set with boats, and growable Magic Beans and beanstalks that can be bone-mealed. It also brings in the lemon tree with lemons, lemonade and lemon muffins, bean bags and crates, salt, brick counters, the oven and rustic loaf, marshmallows on sticks, fried potatoes, fish and chips, and sunflower seeds. Harvesting mature corn with a knife now drops straw, and marshmallow cooking recipes show up in EMI and JEI. About 95 recipes changed, including Brewin' and Chewin' and Create ones.
  • Farm & Charm adds a Cutting Board, iron, diamond and netherite cleavers, and cooked bacon, chicken parts, lamb ham and minced beef. Cat food and chicken feed recipes were reworked.
  • Butchery adds the Elder Spike Trap, made from Elder Guardian spikes, which applies mining fatigue and damages on contact. Raw and cooked human meat were renamed internally. The Enderman Heart is now used by right-clicking it in your off hand with a knife in your main hand.
  • Supplementaries moves to version 4.0 and adds the Pigñata, a Pigñata Anchor and the Grouper. The confetti popper recipe changed.
  • Brewery fixes the Brewing Station top and changes the patterned carpet recipe.

Water and boats (Streams Reflowing)

  • Boats are now pushed twice as hard by flowing water.

Performance

  • Fixed huge TPS issues.

NeoOrigins

  • Resource bars stack in resource ID order, with the lowest ID nearest the hotbar. Existing stacks may shift, except bars with a saved HUD editor position.
  • New framed bar styles with value ticks. Most have a themed scrolling fill, and Frostborn gets an ice gradient. Values, regeneration and costs are unchanged.
  • Hidden or repositioned bars no longer leave gaps in the stack, and stacked bars no longer print text over each other (framed bars are 29 pixels apart).
  • Invalid bar colours fall back to a default blue, and the log names the power and the value.
  • Pack commands that fail to parse are logged once per power, site and command text, with the game's reason. The legacy command rewriter also no longer misreads valid execute ... run chains as broken.
