The Questionable Pack 2

Electric Boogaloo

This pack functions as somewhat of a sequel to the original Questionable Pack, although it's more of a spiritual successor than anything else. While the original pack functioned as essentially a lightweight kitchen sink pack, this pack takes more of a focus on magic and exploration. The goal isn't to build a giant factory that automates the production of everything under the sun, nor is it to acquire the most powerful gear possible. Rather, it's about enjoying what's possible with modded Minecraft. It's about exploring, even if you don't really have the gear to do so yet. It's about going on an adventure to a different dimension or three. It's about learning how to perform feats of magic and wizardry.

Central to this pack is the theme of exploration, and as such, this pack tries to make the world an interesting place to explore. The problem is that the overworld can frequently become too crowded for exploration, so the interesting stuff to see has been delegated to other mods that add new dimensions. In this pack, you'll be able to explore the jungle world of the Erebus, the strange lands of Abyssalcraft, the dark dimension of the Betweenlands, the wondrous world of the Twilight Forest, and much more. The overworld's world generation has also been modified with the help of Recurrent Complex and the like.

Tech hasn't been left out entirely, but most tech mods have been cut out. Mekanism, Draconic Evolution, Applied Energistics, and so forth, have been intentionally left out as an experiment to see what happens if you remove a set of mods that tends to induce more tedium than anything else. The Thermal suite is still present, as it's not too overbearing to the core gameplay message, and doesn't offer anything that is that overpowered compared to the rest of the mods in the pack.

Another important part of this pack is that it needs to be lightweight. With a variety of hardware available to the users of this pack, we don't try to assume an installation with 16GB of RAM or anything crazy like that. This pack is tuned to be runnable (with FoamFix) in about 3-4GB. A bit more RAM will certainly help, especially if texture packs are in use, but a client playing on a dedicated server should be able to do so in 4GB or less. As such, this pack doesn't really have every mod under the sun, and has been very carefully tuned to only have the ones that really matter.

CraftTweaker is also present for rebalancing needs, although it's used extremely lightly in the version of the pack that ships by default.
