An early stages modpack attempting to give a low resource intensive magic adventure pack option. I noticed a lack of quality magic focused 1.12.2 packs and figured I would try to make one.
A New Creation:
This pack has almost every magic mod you would expect to see out of a 1.12 pack, increased biome count, and more enemies.
I am aiming at making a pack with an adventure feel alongside well integrated magic mods. This will require a lot of work and testing so I wanted to put out an Beta to allow people to see if they like it as well as to improve consistency across multiple systems.
Since I feel the general feeling for the pack is mostly ironed out. Questing will now be added to the pack and slowly worked on. The mod used for this will be Better Questing. It will be aimed at tutorial help for the magic mods to give players a sense of direction. Alongside late game content to reward players for completionist behaviour.
Main Mods:
The major magic mods included in this pack are as follows:
- Astral Sorcery
- Blood Magic
- Electroblobs Wizardry
- Embers Rekindled
- Psi
- Thaumcraft
The pack also contains a few tech mods, namely:
- Botania
- Immersive Engineering (with Petroleum+Technology)
- Forestry
There are a number of smaller magic mods or minor improvements to gameplay (such as dungeon additions) incorporated, but these are the major mods.
Parameters:
CPU
This pack should run on most older dual core CPUs (given mine is a dual-core 3.7GHz) or anything stronger.
RAM
I recommend at least 4.5 GB of RAM allocated to this pack. At first I hoped to get it running on 4 but unfortunately the memory leak that is a known issue in Minecraft 1.12.2 tends to cause too many issues then.
OPTIFINE
I strongly advise that you use Optifine with this pack, specifically from this link. Optifine 1.12.2 HD U G5 as it is what I am testing with currently. You can simply add this to the mods folder and it should run properly. I have had occasional audio issues and found that restarting will fix them when they occur. They seemed to be related to insufficient memory, so if you have any audio issues after adding Optifine, make sure your RAM is at 4GB or higher.
Mod List:
Most of these mods are either libraries or make minor changes. As such the overall pack consists of: 19 major mods, 11 minor mods, 3 config customization mods, and the remainder are either minor improvements or libraries. So do not worry about performance too much. the majority of this pack will not heavily affect your pc. However, if you are experiencing crashes during world gen, it may be related to the heavier world gen mod. Recurrent Complex. Consider disabling it and see if it fixes the issue.
