Hello there,
I'm publishing this modpack primarily to make it easier to share with my friends, but if you're welcome to try it out for yourself! The idea behind this modpack is similar to the what drove me to create Brave New Modpack: assemble a collection of mods that allowed for a variety of playstyles, without adding a bunch of extra mods that would never get used. This time however, we wanted to use a the newest version of Minecraft that supported the largest amount of my favorite mods from the old days. The result, is this lovely collection that I've dubbed, The Good ol' Mods, because nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
This modpack is built on Minecraft 1.12.2, and features four types of mods: Tech, Magic, World Changes, and Quality of Life. As a tech player myself, I like to have options when it comes to building my factories, and I thoroughly enjoy mixing and matching different tech mods to maximizing efficiency. The mods I've included for this category give you plenty of machines to experiment with, and I selected a number of compatibility add-ons to ensure that the ores/materials added by one mod can be used by a different mod. Finally, I did my best to select mods whose machines either already ran on Redstone Flux (RF) or could be modded to use RF with a compatibility add-on. Because nobody wants waste materials building a new generator every time you want a new machine from a different mod.
Next comes magic. These mods can be pretty vast in size, and they can add new mobs to the game that are very difficult to deal with if you don't use the mod that they're from. This pack features four main magic mods: Blood Magic, Botania, Thaumcraft, and Twilight Forest. Each of these mods has vast amounts to items to craft, and skills to master, and give the player incredible power over the world around them. And keeping with the them of compatibility, I've also thrown in some wonderful little add-on mods that will allow innovative players to blend their magic with some of the tech mods.
Then comes World Changes. This isn't an official category, I'm just using it as a catch-all term to describe mods that make changes to how the game generates the world, as well as NPC's and dungeons. What I like about these mods is that they give the player something to do with all the fancy toys they build in in their magic or industry mods. They also make the journey towards endgame content more challenging, and significantly more enjoyable. Mods in this category include: Millenaire, Blood Moon, YUNG's Better Caves, and many more.
Finally, we have the quality of life category. These mods include all of the compatibility add-on mods that I mentioned before, plus several others that add more efficient game mechanics/controls. My personal favorite in this category is a mod called Controller; it makes changes to minecraft's options menu that make it easier for a player to identify and reassign conflicting controls. Other noteworthy mechanics added by mods in this category are: chopping down an entire tree at once, tree leaves disappearing more rapidly once the tree is cut down, buildable trashcans for disposing of unwanted items, and damage indicators that let you see how much damage your attacks are doing to your enemies.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments if you have any, and I hope you enjoy this modpack as much as I have!

REGARDING BUG FIXES & UPDATES
As of spring 2023, I am actively updating and improving the modpack so if you encounter any bugs or compatibility issues let me know in the comments and I'll do my best to identify the cause. I can't promise that I will resolve all issues you may have, because I cannot edit the mods themselves; I can only add, remove, or switch the versions of the mods.
