Your first days in a harsh and unforgiving world.

Welcome, Survivor! Your journey won't be easy. Resources are limited, survival is a challenge, and you can't rely on the usual Minecraft mechanics. Follow this guide to learn the basics and survive your first few days.

💡 TIPS & TRICKS

❤️ Heart Progression

You start with 3 hearts. Discover new foods to increase your maximum health.

• Every 5 new foods eaten grants 1 extra heart.
• Eating the same food again doesn't count.
• Your heart progression won't never reset when you die.

🪦 Death & Respawning

If you die, you'll respawn at a new location, similar to RLCraft.

• With a bed: Respawn at your set bed.
• Without a bed: Respawn at a new location.
• Your heart progression is kept after death.

🍖 Food & Nutrition

Food is essential for survival and increasing your maximum health.

• Find food: Gather food whenever you can.
• Try new foods: Discover different foods to earn extra hearts.
• Save supplies: Keep food available for dangerous journeys.

💧 Water & Temperature

Manage your basic needs to stay alive.

• Water: You cannot drink directly from rivers or lakes. Use glass bottles to collect drinking water.
• Temperature: Avoid becoming dangerously hot or cold.
• Shelter: Find or build a safe place before nightfall.

📖 BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Familiarize yourself with the basics of Tinkers' Construct before playing. Understanding its mechanics will help you progress through the modpack.

🪨 1. GATHER YOUR FIRST MATERIALS

Before you can gather wood, you'll need to craft your first crude tools.

• Break tree leaves to collect sticks.
• Pick up small rocks from the ground.
• Find suitable surfaces to create flint shards.
• Look for clay near rivers, lakes, and other suitable locations.
• Gather food whenever you get the chance.

Every resource counts, so collect what you can!

🔍 2. LEARN TO USE JEI

Just Enough Items (JEI) is your best friend when it comes to crafting and progression.

• Press R while hovering over an item to view its recipe.
• Press U to see what the item is used for.

Not sure how to craft something? Search for it in JEI first!

🪨 3. MAKE FLINT SHARDS

You'll need flint shards to craft your first tools.

1. Pick up a small rock.
2. Aim at a hard stone surface.
3. Use the small rock against the surface.
4. Collect the flint shards that drop.

Keep your flint shards safe. You'll need them for crafting crude tools!

🔪 4. CRAFT A CRUDE KNIFE

Your first essential tool is the Crude Knife.

1. Search for Crude Knife in JEI.
2. Check the recipe and gather the required materials.
3. Craft your knife.

You'll need it to harvest plant fiber from grass, an important material for early-game progression.

🧵 5. MAKE PLANT STRING

Once you have a crude knife, you can start gathering plant fiber.

1. Find grass growing on the ground.
2. Hold your crude knife and use it on the grass to harvest plant fiber.
3. Search JEI for Plant String.
4. Craft plant string using the required plant fiber.

Keep some plant string for future crafting recipes!

🪓 6. CRAFT A CRUDE HATCHET

Ready to gather wood? First, you'll need a Crude Hatchet.

1. Search for Crude Hatchet in JEI.
2. Check the recipe.
3. Gather the required materials and craft it.

Important: You cannot simply punch trees to obtain logs. You'll need your crude hatchet to harvest them.

⚠️ Choose Your First Tree Carefully!

Your crude hatchet can only be used on ONE tree, so make your first choice count!

I recommend finding a large tree before using it.

The bigger the tree, the more materials you get.

🪵 7. TURN LOGS INTO PLANKS

You'll need a Crude Saw to process logs into planks.

1. Search for Crude Saw in JEI.
2. Check its recipe.
3. Craft the saw.
4. Use it to process your logs into planks.

Plan your wood usage carefully. Early-game resources are valuable!

🔥 8. BUILD YOUR FIRST CAMPFIRE

A campfire provides a useful starting point for your survival journey.

You'll need:

• 1 Log
• 3 Sticks
• 1 Fire Starter

Drop the log and sticks onto the ground together to prepare your campfire.

Lighting the Campfire

1. Search for Fire Starter in JEI.
2. Craft it using the listed recipe.
3. Use the fire starter to ignite the log and sticks.
4. Make sure your campfire is placed somewhere safe.

Your campfire will help you take the next steps toward survival.

🧱 9. FIND AND FIRE CLAY

Clay is an important resource for crafting your first furnace.

1. Search around rivers, lakes, and other suitable locations for clay.
2. Collect enough clay to make clay bricks.
3. Check JEI for the required recipe.
4. Prepare your campfire.
5. Place the clay bricks on the campfire and wait for them to finish firing.

Once the bricks are ready, you'll be one step closer to making a furnace!

🏭 10. CRAFT YOUR FIRST FURNACE

With enough fired bricks, you can work toward your first furnace.

1. Search for the furnace recipe in JEI.
2. Gather the required materials.
3. Craft your furnace.

You'll need it to produce glass and eventually make glass bottles, which are essential for collecting drinking water.

🌙 11. PREPARE FOR YOUR FIRST NIGHT

Before darkness falls, try to have the following ready:

• A Crude Knife
• A Crude Hatchet
• A supply of sticks
• Food
• Drinking water
• A safe place to shelter
• A bed to establish your respawn point, if available

Build a campfire, stay protected, and avoid unnecessary fights.

Your first night can be one of the most dangerous parts of your journey. Preparation is key!

🧭 12. KEEP PROGRESSING

Once you've secured tools, food, water, and shelter, you can begin gathering more resources and advancing through the modpack.

Remember to use JEI whenever you encounter an unfamiliar item or recipe. Check both how an item is crafted and what it can be used for.

Keep discovering new foods to increase your maximum health, and establish a bed at your base so that death doesn't send you far away.

Progression may be slow at first, but every tool you craft and every discovery you make brings you one step closer to mastering this harsh world.

Don't waste your first day wandering aimlessly.

Gather essential materials, craft tools that unlock the next stage of progression, secure your water supply, discover new foods to earn more hearts, and prepare for the night before it's too late.
