Sundered Epochs
Build a civilization. Define an age.
Sundered Epochs is a lore-driven survival, roleplay, and civilization-building modpack where ancient magic, industrial progress, and forgotten powers collide.
Built around Origins, MCA Reborn, Create, Mekanism, Applied Energistics 2, exploration, magic, and long-term multiplayer progression, Sundered Epochs is designed for players who want more than a kitchen-sink pack.
You aren't simply building a base.
You're building a society.
Start with humble settlements, farms, workshops, and families. Raise villages into towns, connect nations through trade and railways, construct sprawling factories, explore forgotten civilizations, master ancient magic, and eventually push your people into entirely new technological eras.
But the world isn't united on what that future should look like.
Three great powers stand at the heart of the setting.
The Old Way
Tradition. Magic. Balance.
The Old Way is formed from ancient and supernatural peoples whose civilizations predate much of recorded history.
For generations, they have protected the old traditions, wielded powerful magic, studied forgotten knowledge, and maintained what they believe to be the natural balance of the world.
To them, progress without restraint is dangerous.
The rapid industrialization of the younger races threatens traditions that have survived for thousands of years — and perhaps the world itself.
Their strength lies primarily in:
-
Magic and ancient knowledge
-
Enchanting and alchemy
-
Supernatural Origins
-
Nature and exploration
-
Ancient structures and relics
-
Traditional methods of crafting and civilization
But even among the Old Way, not everyone agrees that the past should control the future.
The New Age
Industry. Independence. Progress.
The New Age represents the younger civilizations of the world: humans, humanoids, and peoples once overshadowed by ancient supernatural powers.
They don't believe birthright, age, or magical ancestry should determine who controls civilization.
Instead, they build.
What begins with farms, workshops, windmills, and water wheels can eventually become an industrial revolution.
Through Create, railways, factories, airships, electrical engineering, Mekanism, and eventually digital technology through Applied Energistics 2, the New Age can transform entire landscapes.
Their technological journey may progress through multiple eras:
Settlement Era
↓
Mechanical Era
↓
Steam & Industrial Era
↓
Age of Flight
↓
Electrical Era
↓
Information Era
↓
Atomic Age
Create forms the foundation of civilization.
Mekanism represents advanced industry.
Applied Energistics represents the rise of computation and digital logistics.
The question is no longer whether ordinary people can rival ancient magic.
It's what happens when they finally do.
The Forgotten
Exile. Hatred. Revenge.
Long before the rise of the New Age, entire peoples were removed from history.
Banished.
Erased.
Forgotten.
Many were cast into hostile realms where generations survived without the civilizations that condemned them.
Now they are returning.
The Forgotten consist of lost, corrupted, Nether-born, undead, infernal, and otherwise exiled races whose culture developed separately from both the Old Way and the New Age.
They don't seek balance.
They don't seek progress.
Many seek to destroy the civilizations that inherited the world they believe was stolen from them.
Their knowledge is strange and often forbidden — combining ancient magic, dimensional resources, stolen machinery, lost relics, and technologies developed in isolation.
The Old Way remembers why they were banished.
The Forgotten remember who banished them.
And the New Age may soon discover that ancient history isn't as dead as they thought.
Choose an Origin. Inherit a History.
Origins are more than abilities in Sundered Epochs.
Your Origin represents your ancestry and where your people fit into the history of the world.
Different Origins may naturally align with different civilizations, cultures, or philosophies.
But your Origin does not decide your entire future.
Sundered Epochs follows one major rule:
Lore-driven, gameplay-open.
An ancient magical being can become fascinated with machinery.
A New Age engineer can dedicate their life to magic.
A Forgotten exile can abandon their homeland and build a family among the people they were taught to hate.
Your Origin determines where your story begins.
What happens afterward is yours.
Build More Than a Base
With MCA Reborn at the heart of the civilization experience, settlements aren't just collections of trading halls.
Build communities.
Create families.
Develop towns.
Protect citizens.
Establish businesses.
Construct infrastructure.
Watch small settlements grow alongside your technological and magical progression.
Your first home may eventually become the oldest building in a sprawling industrial capital.
A wooden village can become surrounded by brick factories.
A dirt road can become a railway.
A storage barn can eventually become an automated logistics center.
A windmill can become the historic centerpiece of a civilization powered by technology its founders could never have imagined.
The world should tell the story of how far you've come.
Industry That Evolves With You
Technology in Sundered Epochs is meant to feel like advancement rather than a collection of unrelated machines.
Create — Infrastructure
Build factories, workshops, rail networks, mechanical farms, processing facilities, logistics systems, and the foundations of industrial civilization.
Mekanism — Advanced Industry
As civilization advances, unlock electrical power, advanced metallurgy, chemical processing, large-scale manufacturing, and increasingly powerful energy systems.
Applied Energistics 2 — Information
Digital storage and automation represent one of civilization's greatest achievements.
Warehouses become networks.
Physical logistics become computation.
Industry enters the information age.
The goal is for advanced technology to grow from earlier infrastructure, not instantly replace it.
Magic Has Its Own History
While the New Age races toward the future, the Old Way reaches deeper into the past.
Discover magical systems, ancient artifacts, forgotten structures, supernatural creatures, mysterious dimensions, and knowledge that existed long before the first factory was constructed.
Some secrets may prove that ancient civilizations understood far more about the world than modern society realizes.
Others may explain why certain knowledge was deliberately forgotten.
Explore a World Worth Fighting For
Sundered Epochs emphasizes exploration and discovery alongside civilization building.
Expect:
-
Expanded world generation
-
New biomes and landscapes
-
Ancient ruins
-
Dangerous structures
-
New dimensions
-
Valuable resources
-
Hidden lore
-
Locations worth settling, protecting, trading, or fighting over
Some discoveries may advance technology.
Some may unlock magic.
And some should probably have remained buried.
Built for Multiplayer Stories
Sundered Epochs is especially designed around long-running SMP worlds.
Create:
-
Kingdoms
-
Republics
-
Industrial cities
-
Magical enclaves
-
Forgotten strongholds
-
Trade alliances
-
Rail companies
-

Politics and conflict can naturally emerge from the world without requiring every player to constantly participate in scripted drama.
Trade with rival civilizations.
Defect from your faction.
Challenge ancient traditions.
Reject industrialization.
Become a neutral merchant.
Uncover forbidden knowledge.
Create alliances nobody expected.
Or try to prevent three civilizations from tearing the world apart.
A Kitchen Sink With a Purpose
Sundered Epochs still embraces the freedom of a kitchen-sink modpack.
Build enormous factories.
Become a mage.
Raise a family.
Explore dangerous dimensions.
Construct railways.
Create airships.
Automate everything.
Build a kingdom.
Live quietly in a village.
Become an industrial tycoon.
Search ancient ruins.
Or combine systems in ways nobody planned for.
But underneath all of it is a world built around one central conflict:
The Old Way protects the age that was.
The New Age builds the age that will be.
The Forgotten want both reduced to history.
The world is changing.
Civilizations are rising.
Ancient powers are awakening.
And eventually, every player must decide what the next epoch will become.
