Stonecage is a lightweight modpack with a focus on exploration and combat. To help push players towards exploration, players no longer have the ability to break stone (as well as various other blocks). This means you'll have to explore vast, dangerous cave systems instead of strip mining, travel through deadly dungeons instead of digging through them, and to build a base instead of living in a hole in the wall like some kind of forest animal.
The pack doesn't have many mods compared to some packs out there, but the mods that are here have been both carefully chosen and also well integrated to try and make a cohesive experience. There are many, many lines of scripting in this pack to make all the pieces fit together.
Stonecage is mainly about combat and exploration. It's a pack for those who like combat and collecting loot, with a little bit of tech, a little bit of magic, and a little bit of automation. Instead of using a quest book, it is organized around the research table. After exploring around and killing mobs, you can use research notes you've collected at the research table to unlock new machines. You'll also find Curios while exploring, powerful artifacts that can be refined into useful baubles to help you keep up with your foes.
Tools, armor and weapons can be made out of a large assortment of materials through the Silent Gear mod, allowing you to customize your gear. There's also new ways to fight, including dual wielding, guns, and magic, allowing you to customize your play style to your challenges and your preferences.
