Spore Inquisition
Spore Inquisition is a adventure, horror, and shooter-focused Minecraft modpack built around the terrifying mechanics of the Fungal Infection: Spore mod. In this world, a rapidly spreading parasitic fungus has begun to consume the environment, infect wildlife, and transform the landscape into a hostile, living ecosystem.
Your objective is simple: survive the outbreak.
However, survival will not come easily. The infection spreads across the world, corrupting biomes, mutating creatures, and creating dangerous infected zones that grow more hostile over time. What begins as a normal survival world can quickly become an apocalyptic nightmare as the fungal organism evolves and expands.
Now this raises the question dear player will you build a stronghold to survive, will you run as far away as possible in an effort to escape this infection, or maybe you'll escape to another dimension to hide away from the infection.
-Core Features-
Dynamic Fungal Infection
At the heart of the modpack is the Fungal Infection: Spore system, which introduces a living infection capable of spreading across terrain, infecting mobs, and creating terrifying new fungal lifeforms. The longer the world exists, the more dangerous the infection becomes.
Shooter-Style Combat
Combat has been expanded with modern firearms, weapons, and tactical gear, allowing players to defend themselves against infected creatures and massive fungal monstrosities. Ammunition, supplies, and weapon upgrades must be scavenged or crafted carefully.
Dark Survival Horror Atmosphere
The modpack emphasizes tension and atmosphere. Nights are darker, exploration is dangerous, and infected areas become increasingly disturbing as the fungus spreads. Every expedition outside your base carries risk.
Exploration and Scavenging
Players can explore ruined structures, underground facilities, abandoned settlements, and dangerous infected zones in search of vital resources. Supplies such as medical items, ammunition, and rare materials are often found in the most dangerous places.
Base Building and Defense
Establish fortified safehouses to survive the growing threat. As the infection spreads and hostile creatures become more aggressive, defensive planning becomes essential.
Progressive Difficulty
The world becomes more hostile over time as the fungal organism spreads. Areas that were once safe can become overrun, forcing players to adapt, relocate, and strategize.
The spores are spreading. How long will you survive?
Lore – The Origin of the Infection
Long before the world began to fall, the fungus already existed.
It was not discovered in forests, caves, or swamps. It came from somewhere deeper… and far older.
The First Discovery
Decades ago, explorers uncovered a strange underground cavern far below the surface. The cave walls were covered in an unfamiliar fungal growth—dark, fibrous structures that pulsed faintly as if they were alive. At first it appeared harmless, simply another strange organism hidden deep beneath the world.
Samples were taken.
Researchers believed the fungus could revolutionize medicine and agriculture. It grew rapidly, adapted to nearly any environment, and appeared capable of bonding with other living tissue.
They called it Mycelium-X.
They did not realize the organism was not just a fungus.
It was a network.
The Network
Mycelium-X was not a simple organism. Every spore, tendril, and growth was part of a vast biological intelligence. Each infected creature became another node in its expanding system. The fungus didn’t merely grow—it learned, adapting to threats and spreading wherever life existed.
When exposed to living hosts, the spores began to mutate rapidly.
Animals became aggressive. Plants twisted into unnatural shapes. Entire ecosystems started to change.
Still, the researchers continued their work.
Until containment failed.
The First Outbreak
The first outbreak occurred in an underground research facility. At first, it appeared to be a minor containment breach. Spores had escaped the laboratory and begun spreading through ventilation systems.
Within hours the infection had reached the lower levels of the facility.
Within days, everyone inside was gone.
The fungus consumed the facility, absorbing every living organism it encountered. But instead of dying underground, it did something far worse.
It adapted to the surface.
The Spread
Once exposed to open air, the fungus began producing billions of airborne spores. Wind carried them across forests, plains, mountains, and oceans.
Wildlife became infected.
Villages fell silent.
Entire regions were overtaken by creeping fungal growth that transformed the terrain into pulsating, organic landscapes.
Some infected creatures mutated into towering fungal monstrosities designed to defend the expanding organism.
And the infection never stopped spreading.
The Present
Now the world is changing.
The fungus is everywhere—hidden underground, creeping through forests, and infecting anything that moves. Safe zones are shrinking as corrupted biomes continue to grow.
Some survivors believe the infection is simply a runaway biological organism.
Others believe something far more terrifying:
The fungus is not invading the world.
It is terraforming it.
The spores are in the air. The ground beneath your feet may already be infected. And somewhere deep within this fungus… something is awake.
