Space Coast Iceplex
This project is a one-to-one recreation (some exceptions) of the Space Coast Iceplex located in Rockledge, Florida. The Space Coast Iceplex is an ice rink, which, in reality, hosts public skating, figure skating, and hockey events. This map does not include these, but you can explore the structure of the building and enjoy the ambience it brings. This project contains the recreated building and a small area around it, including the parking lot, connecting road, sidewalks, a canal, and a soccer field. I started this project in 2022, when I was experimenting with the Create mod. I made a semi-truck, by laying an underground rail, with a train driving the truck above, but once completed I realized how large scale a project to fit that truck would be. I started laying down track for a crazy idea, and discovered I could make the truck drive around in a resurfacing pattern. I swapped the truck out for a Zamboni, laid down some ice, and eventually the building rose up around it. As you step inside, you can look around the lobby, concession area, bar, skate rental, party rooms, and the ice surface, recreated as accurately as I could figure. The map also includes the shop, gym, spectator stands, administration rooms, locker rooms, medical room, janitor/HVAC room, broadcasting room, resurfacer room, and the refrigeration plant. Just outside the resurfacer room are the net controls, where you can raise or lower nets on to the ice surface. Every nine minutes, any nets on the ice are pulled off, and the resurfacer will start an ice cut. Once complete, any nets needed will be automatically lowered back. Hidden within the map are 3 easter-eggs, with a riddle book to help you discover them.
