Introduction
This modpack was born from my dissatisfaction with most of the current Skyblock packs available. I wanted a pack like Sky Factory 3, but with more mods, exploration, and some semblance of balance and progression. It was originally created for my friends and I, but I figured others might enjoy it too.
I tried to add mods that encourage automation or are simply fun in a Skyblock setting. You can view the complete mod list here (pastebin.com).
Here are some notable features you may be interested in
- 165 mods and counting.
- The chickens mod has been excluded and almost all of the crops from Mystical Agriculture have been removed. Instead, the Ex Nihilo sifting registry has been greatly expanded. This should encourage more creative methods of automation, rather than a boring chicken or magical crop farm.
- Similar to Project Ozone, other dimensions do not generate as void worlds. You can explore the Nether, classic Aether, The End, Galacticraft's planets, The Beneath, and more!
- Applied Energistics is used in favor of Refined Storage. Appropriate crafting recipes have been added.
- Tons of custom recipes and tweaks.
- Create and sift slime grass to obtain Tinkers' Construct saplings and items from slime islands.
- More mobs to fight and farm.
- No Chance Cubes!
I recommend playing on Botania's "Garden of Glass" world type on hard difficulty, but you could try your hand at nether survival or just the Overworld :)
Getting Started
(I haven't gotten around to making an achievement book yet, so I assume some standard Skyblock knowledge.)
- Start a new wold on the Garden of Glass worldtype.
- Craft your first sapling with living root in a 2x2.
- Sprint and Crouch around it to make it grow faster.
- Collect pebbles by right clicking on grass while sneaking. Craft it into cobblestone.
- Set up Ex Nihilo sieves to expand your collection of materials by sifting sand, dirt, gravel, dust, crushed Endstone, crushed Netherrack, topiary grass, and slime dirt. Higher tier sieve meshes always give better drops.
- Create a wooden crucible to compost organic material into water. (You can't collect water from wooden barrels while it's raining.)
- Make clay from dust and water.
- Create a fired clay crucible to convert cobblestone into lava.
- Set up a steady source of food. But watch out; You'll have to continue to eat different types of food to survive.
- Set up Tinkers' Construct to create better tools and double your ores.
- Set up a mob farm and automate loot bag processing.
- Automate ore refinery with cobblestone generators, redstone furnaces, auto hammerers, sifters, pulverizers, and more.
- Take a trip to the Aether and the Nether.
- So on and so forth...
Server Setup
Start with a clean server on the latest version of forge for 1.10.2.
Copy the mods from your installation into your server while making sure to NOT include these mods:
- ReAuth
- Fullscreen Windowed
- More Overlays
- Client Tweaks
- Just enough items
- just enough resources
- Controlling
- BaublesHud
Copy the "config" folder from the root of your modpack installation into the server.
Do the same with the "scripts" folder.
Start the server and close it when it's finished loading.
In the server.properties file, set the world type to "botania-skyblock." You'll have to delete the world folder to get a fresh world to generate.
Start the server again and enjoy.
To-Do List
The modpack is currently in beta. Expect changes at any time.
- I have a list of mods that i'm considering adding once I get the chance to look at them.
- I need to add a simple achievement book to guide players.
- I need to playtest some features to make sure they're balanced.
If you find any important unobtainable items or exploits / glitches, let me know and i'll do my best to get them fixed.
I'm fairly new to modded Minecraft, so I apologize for any stupid mistakes in advance.
