Silent Depths — v0.80.0 Beta

Changes

  • This is a testing build on the road to 1.0. This version is focused on tuning, polish, and experimentation. Some features or files in this build may be temporary and could be removed or changed in later versions depending on test results.

  • Added two mods made by me, reworked from the original creators’ mods (used with permission):

    • Goatman audio adjustments — Goatman screams and ambient sounds have been rebalanced to be less overwhelming while keeping the horror atmosphere intact.

    • Biomaw foliage adjustments — foliage and clutter density in the Biomaw biome has been reduced to improve visibility and overall gameplay flow.

  • Reduced general grass and foliage spawning in several areas to cut down on visual clutter and improve visibility.

  • Added multiple shader quality levels so players can choose based on their PC:

    • Ultra

    • High

    • Medium

    • Low

    • Performance

  • Shader performance tuning is still in progress. The lower-end shader options may not give huge performance gains yet, but they are included for testing and future optimization.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed several gameplay and pack-level glitches found during testing.

  • Cleaned up a handful of small issues related to item behavior, visuals, and minor inconsistencies.

  • General stability and polish improvements across the pack.

Audio adjustments

  • Rebalanced Goatman audio so encounters are less overwhelming and less fatiguing during long play sessions.

  • These changes focus on volume and balance only. Sound trigger behavior is unchanged.

Testing notes / Important clarification

  • This version is meant strictly for testing.

  • Some things in this build exist only for testing and may be removed later.

  • Feedback on performance, shaders, foliage density, and audio balance is especially important for this version.

Development notes

  • The mods made by me were created by reworking original creators’ mods with permission.

  • Further tuning and polish will continue as we move closer to 1.0.

Content

  • No new progression systems added.

  • No major world generation systems added.

  • No content removed (aside from possible removal of testing-only assets in future builds).

  • This beta focuses on tuning, bug fixing, shader testing, foliage density, and overall feel.
