Silent Cities - Zombie Apocalypse

A 1.20.1 zombie apocalypse modpack built because I got bored of generic kitchen-sink packs and decided my graphics card needed to suffer.

What's new

Changelog (Still Beta)

Worldgen & Terrain

Fixed

  • Fixed the C2ME-related deadlock that could occur during Lost Cities generation.
  • Fixed several additional terrain-generation issues.
  • Prevented certain biomes from generating when they could cause faulty world generation.

Known Terrain Issues

The following world-generation issues are still known and are being tracked:

  • Large trees can still sometimes be cut off
  • Glow Lichen is sometimes not properly cleared. This may require a fix from the mod's author.

Content & Gameplay

Performance

  • Burnt has been re-enabled. Performance will continue to be monitored with C2ME.

Crash Fixes & Stability

Fixed

  • Fixed the known C2ME / Lost Cities deadlock.
  • Added Neruina as a temporary safeguard against a rare mob-AI-related crash.

Known Issues

  • A rare mob AI crash can still occur and is currently being investigated.
  • Neruina has been added as a temporary workaround to help circumvent the crash when it happens.

Smooth Player Animations โ€” Important

Smooth Player Animations is unavailable on CurseForge. Because of this, an additional installation step is required when launching the pack.

  • When you launch the pack, a window will pop up asking you to install Smooth Player Animations.
  • You must install it for the game to continue loading.
  • If you do not install it, the game will not continue loading.
  • Always use a new instance when installing and launching the pack.
  • Do not install the pack into an existing instance.

New Mod Development

TaCZ 100: The 100th Addon

I am currently working on my first 1.20.1 mod: TaCZ 100: The 100th Addon.

  • Fixing two particularly annoying bugs involving TaCZ.
  • Improving compatibility with Distant Horizons.
  • Improving compatibility with Better Combat.
  • More features may be added in the future.

Planned

  • Developing a fork of I Wanna Skate tailored specifically toward the apocalypse theme, including removing some features and buffing skateboards.
  • Potentially adding vehicles in the future, possibly using Immersive Vehicles or Limitless Vehicles. This will be considered once world generation is stable.
  • Potentially creating a simple, optimized block physics mod.
  • The block physics mod would be much simpler and more performance-friendly than Physics Mod, with the goal of preventing players from stacking blocks endlessly into the sky just to escape zombies.

Development Direction

World generation stability and crash issues remain a major priority.

New content will continue to be developed, but terrain generation, crashes, and mod compatibility will remain a major focus.

Peace out. ๐Ÿ‘‹
