ShaauxCraft
Minecraft 1.21.1 · NeoForge 21.1.244 · ~340 mods
ShaauxCraft is an exploration and survival-adventure pack built on modern 1.21.1 NeoForge. It keeps the feel of vanilla Minecraft but deepens almost every part of it: a bigger, more varied world to travel through, real combat with weapons and enchanting worth chasing, survival systems that make the environment matter, and a long list of quality-of-life and performance mods so none of it gets in your way. It's tuned to run well on a dedicated server, so it's just as much a pack to play with friends as it is solo.
A world worth exploring
The overworld is rebuilt from the ground up with Terralith and Tectonic, giving you sweeping new biomes, dramatic terrain, and mountain ranges you can actually get lost in. The Nether is overhauled by Incendium and the End by Nullscape.
Structures are the reward for going out there. The full YUNG's Better… collection reworksvanilla's dungeons, strongholds, mineshafts, ocean monuments, desert temples, witch huts, nether fortresses, and more, while When Dungeons Arise, Moog's structure sets, and a range of village, dungeon, and trial-chamber additions fill the map with places to raid. End Remastered turns entering the End into a proper quest, and Savage Ender Dragon gives the finale some teeth.
- Nature's Compass and Explorer's Compass so you can actually find any biome or structure.
- Map Atlases plus BlueMap for a live web map of your server world.
- Chunky for pre-generating the world without lag.
Combat and progression
- Combat is driven by Better Combat, Combat Roll, Stamina For Tweakers and Sword Blocking Mechanics
- This means we get a solid combat experience with dodge rolls, timed parries and punishing stamina mechanics with custom made compatibility patches between these mods made specifically for this modpack.
- Mobs have reworked AI and animations so fighting and parrying them feels rewarding.
- All player animations are reworked via Punchy and HyperPunchy for the first person. Better Combat handles third-person animations. Everything is blended seamlessly together. It all even works with the First-Person Model mod.
- Apotheosis is the primary progression mod. Chosen specifically for it's world tiers and close to vanilla progression. It simply adds depth to gearing and enchanting, and utilizes vanilla data-driven mobs for it-s mini bosses.
- The bestiary is expanded too, with Mowzie's Mobs, Mutant Monsters, Illager Invasion, Friends & Foes, and several boss and monster packs adding threats worth preparing for.
Survival that makes the environment matter
- Cold Sweat Natural Temperatures and Serene Seasons — Temperature and seasons you have to dress and build for which span your world in temperature bands. Lush jungles at the Equator, icey biomes on the north and south poles. Pairs incredibly well with Terralith and Tectonic.
- Thirst — Hydration to manage alongside hunger, simple and easy but adds some depth.
- Stamina — Most actions take stamina - Reduce its impact by using Tirelessness potions or the new Traveling and Combatant enchants.
- First Aid — Craft remedies to recover health instead of spamming bread (Recommended to disable natural health regeneration for a more Hardcore Experience)
- Hardcore Revival — Get downed players back up instead of losing them. Encourages team play and dealing with content together as a group.
Getting around
- Travel is a feature, not just a chore.
- Small Ships and cart mods give you real vehicles,
- climbing claws and gliders open up vertical exploration, and a full elytra suite (physics, trims, and a dedicated slot via Curios) makes late-game flight its own reward.
- The pack features Via Romana: The infrastructure based fast travel mod to encourage building and setup a vanilla friendly fast travel system for long-sighted transport needs.
Building and decoration
Supplementaries, Quark, Handcrafted, Amendments, and a stack of decoration mods add thousands of new blocks, furniture, and functional decorations, so bases end up looking lived-in rather than boxy.
Quality of life
- EMI recipe and item viewer (with loot, ore, and enchanting add-ons)
- Jade for at-a-glance block and mob info integrated with Immersive Spyglass and Useful Spyglass.
- FTB Quests, Teams & Essentials for goals and multiplayer management
- Faster workbenches, furnaces, and crafting; tree-chopping; better inventory handling
- Cleaner UI, tooltips, and menus throughout.
Immersion and looks
- Sodium 0.6.13 and Iris bring modern rendering and full shader support.
- Dynamic Lighting support with no need for shaders. Intended for a dark lighting atmosphere where torches and lanterns are a must for exploring caves and navigating during the night.
- Sound Physics Remastered and AmbientSounds for spatial, reactive audio
- Water wakes and improved particles.
Multiplayer / Social
- Painting using Artistry Live and Joy of Painting. Add custom massive painting or import images and memes and plaster them on your walls.
- Play keyboard or preset driven music using the Immersive Melodies mod.
- Simple Voice Chat with Voiceless for chatting and immersive sound features that interact with the world (Mobs and skulk sensors)
- Emotes via Emotecraft
Performance first
- A heavy pack still needs to run. ShaauxCraft ships a full modern optimization stack — Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore, ModernFix, C2ME, Krypton, ScalableLux, and EntityCulling, plus ServerCore and Spark on the server side — to keep frame rates and tick times healthy even with hundreds of mods loaded.
- The pack ships with multiple shader presets for different performance profiles. No shaders are turned on by default.
Server
- ShaauxCraft has it's own Dedicated Server. Simply apply for Whitelist via the Discord.
- ShaauxCraft ships with a matching dedicated-server configuration built on the same NeoForge 21.1.244 base, with client-only mods stripped out and shared mods kept in lockstep, so hosting a server for your group is straightforward.
Requirements
- 8 GB RAM allocated recommended (6 GB minimum)
- This is a heavy modpack to run, so it requires a top of the line graphics card if you wish to run it with shaders. The server supports Distant Horizons, however you will have to install that yourself if you can run it.
Roadmap
ShaauxCraft has more to come before the official 1.0 release. Below is a priority list of the upcoming additions:
- Overhauled food system. Minecraft's Vanilla Food system is plain, easy to cheese, disencentivizes you from crafting different types of food and is overall just a bad experience. With the new First Aid mod to handle healing, food really has no place other than a meter to upkeep. Therefore a new Food Overhaul is in the works. The intent is currently to base it on Valheims food system and Farmer's Delight. Better ideas are very welcome.
- Immersive Nations. I am currently working on a custom Nations mod for the ModPack where the unique twist is that every menu or factions related activity should be handled via in game blocks or actions instead of through a complicated menu that doesnt feel like a part of the game. This nations mod will be integrated with FTB Teams, FTB Chunks, FTB Ranks to provide most of the backend. Then as a frontend for viewing claims i plan to use the great and immersive Map Atlases mod while disabling the built in chunk map from FTB Chunks.
