The other Agents thawed anywhere from months to decades ago. Most didn't make it. Now, you're among the last, dropped into the aftermath of an apocalypse, tasked with finishing what the others couldn't. alt text

Modpack summary:

Hunt horrors, hiveminds, and extinction-level threats, permanently eradicating them until the world is safe again.

Enjoy a primarily action+horror+adventure experience, with extremely carefully thought-out systems, and bouts of tech and survival mixed in.

Features:

Custom code for new mechanics/systems:

  • Military call-ins:
    • Airstrikes
    • Turrets
    • Supply drops
    • Pop-up structures
    • Vehicles
    • Etc.
      • Earn coins and XP from combat or the Military Market exchange shop, then spend them in the Military Market and other chapters in the "Tactics" section! alt text
  • Ammo conversion (even between different gun mods) alt text
  • Contextual tips (helpful hints that pop up as you do things)
  • Custom mob drops & chest loot
    • Upgrades & materials that are in-theme with the rest of the modpack
    • Medical supplies (idea borrowed from DeceasedCraft :3)
    • Bonus XP from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., and bonus loot from midnight to 5! …I wonder why.
    • Some mobs will drop LIVE military call-in flares, meaning something may be descending from the sky quite rapidly… better hope it's safe. alt text
  • Eradication system:
    • Satisfy a mob's eradication conditions by completing various unique tasks, and they'll never naturally spawn again!
      • Don't worry, you'll unlock mobs' Spawn Eggs for purchase after Eradicating them, so you won't lose out on drops! You'll also unlock some powerful new military call-ins after certain tasks!
  • Softlock/deathloop detection & mitigation
  • Custom spawning rules
  • On-screen explanations for some effects that are non-vanilla and tricky to remove
  • Custom stats & tracking when dealing with the primary infection mod
  • Custom recipes
  • Custom shaders (modified BSL)
  • Low-health defense boost
  • Telegraphed and/or avoidable threats, allowing for opt-in gameplay, and therefore multiple viable playstyles alt text
  • A system for randomized, repeatable Quests (sort of like dailies)
  • Tons of tweaked and added-to configs for balance, synergy with other systems, etc.
  • Tons of custom Quests that explain themselves in-depth (No need to tab out!)
    • Interactive tutorials for some of the custom systems, too
    • Quest chapters/sections have been organized and labeled as clearly as possible

Addressing mod stereotypes & balancing:

If you roll your eyes at the thought of horror mods, infection mods, gun mods, etc., I encourage you to try this modpack:

It's thoughtfully designed to FIX a lot of the shortcomings & pain points these mods usually have:

  • True horror creatures only spawn at night with an on-screen warning, or in specific biomes, or during specific states (like being totally insane), allowing you to avoid them quite easily.

    • Even when horror mobs do spawn, they've been carefully selected not to be overpowered nor impossible to deal with.
    • Horror mobs won't stick around forever, because you can always eradicate them if they're bothering you! No more hassle.
  • Infection mods all start dormant, and CAN be ended permanently by following Quests

    • Even after awoken, the primary infection mod (Spore) has a system to detect when the players are falling behind/being overran—which is visually indicated in-game via a boss bar—at which point the game will automatically reset the Spore to an earlier stage, and slap you on the wrist for failing to keep up! No lost worlds here!
    • Some of the military call-ins are specially designed to give you an exceptional edge against the Spore, but technically… ALL of the military call-ins can help.
  • Hordes (NOT from any infection mod) are tied to kills:

    • Currently, these customized hordes will only come if you kill a certain number of hostiles (visual tracker on-screen). Don't want hordes? Hunker down and take a break from killing hostiles!
    • Hordes are tracked per-player, meaning somebody who joins 100 days late to a server won't be receiving day-100 hordes; they'll be receiving day-1 hordes.
  • Guns are powerful, but in this modpack, they've got balancing features:

  1. Perhaps most obviously: Some enemies are VERY strong, and certain melee weapons or magical attacks will actually fare better at dealing with them due to powerful enchantments, armor pierce, attributes, etc.
  2. Guns have durability
  3. There are three separate systems for gun crafting, each with unique pros and cons (I'll let you explore them in-game), intended to make guns accessible at all stages of the game, but not super easy to acquire the most powerful ones
  4. Projectile Protection (which mobs can have fairly often now) works on bullets
  5. Some mobs actually use guns… Talk about fighting fire with fire. alt text
  • In general, there have been LOADS of config tweaks to make things more balanced and synergistic.

Neat little synergies:

  • Summon too many explosive military call-ins in too short a time, and the pollution will start to build up, making it hard to live there unless dealt with or used more sparingly! (It's like a balancing act!)
  • Extreme altitudes (high OR low) can be hard to breathe in without masks or special potions; thankfully, various robots/drones can do a lot of the digging/exploring FOR you if you make them!
  • Almost every major enemy type (undead, Spore, humanoid, etc.) has a military call-in they're especially weak to
  • This modpack can get pitch-black, but Flares (which we always have access to) and flashlights can help tremendously! Flashlights will even raise sanity and prevent certain horror creatures from manifesting.
  • Distant structures will RESET after 14 in-game days, encouraging you to build train routes or roads along the land, so you can return quickly later
    • There are also INFINITE ore veins you can find, which cannot be moved, so routes to those will be important, too
  • I'm definitely forgetting around a thousand more synergies

Multiplayer-minded:

  • All the systems have been built to work in multiplayer, but going it solo is viable, too!
  • A collaborative effort that respects everyone's playstyle: As one player Eradicates a mob or awakens man-made horrors beyond their comprehension, everyone else's world will change, too; HOWEVER:
    • There are systems in place to ensure even the peaceful farmer can keep tending to their crops while the world outside descends into chaos, like perhaps with an indestructible Force Field bubble you can craft and maintain!

      You're all agents under the same protocol, but more importantly, you're all players in the same game, and this modpack tries to honor and enable everybody's preferences as much as possible. alt text
