Ruthless Frontiers: A Diabolical RPG

This modpack is a Diablo-inspired Minecraft RPG modpack built around hostile overworld exploration, survival progression, faction patrols, custom quests, and dungeon-bound guardian hunts. It is gameplay-first and Minecraft-first, reshaping Minecraft into a harsher frontier without losing sight of the core game.

Lush environments stay lush. Arid, broken places become even more worn down. This is a world as beautiful as it is cruel: a world that does not care about you simply because you entered it.

You are not born into the frontier as a force of nature. There are no starter kits that give you an edge to begin with. You are just someone trying to survive, grow stronger, and carve out a meaningful existence in a land that will not make room for you willingly.

The modpack is built with restraint. Its focused mod pool is defined as much by what it leaves out as by what it includes. Rather than relying on every expected RPG staple, Ruthless Frontiers keeps combat personal, grounded, and recognizably Minecraft-like. No playing Simon Says with red circles. No weapon movesets to memorize. Combat is a matter of spacing, aggro, commitment, and knowing yourself and your enemy.

That restraint does not mean a lack of RPG content. Much of the pack’s current progression is custom-built around its action RPG structure, beginning with the marshlands storyline that forms the core of the present release. Future chapters will push the frontier further into the hills, the mines, and the inferno.

Act 1: The Marshlands RPG Questline

Begin your journey in the treacherous wetlands, where the Scalebane hold power after dark.

Scalebane (Act 1 Faction) Lizardfolk patrols rule the marsh at night, using archers, strikers, and vipers to turn the wetlands into contested territory. They mark their ground with heads impaled on spikes. Not a pretty sight.

The Marshlands (Act 1 Core Biome) Fog-choked, overgrown, and full of hidden danger. The marshlands form the heart of the current campaign, with hostile wildlife, faction encounters, environmental clues, and the first major dungeon trail.

??? (Act 1 Dungeon) Something stirs in a lair underneath the wetlands.

Planned Future Acts

Desert Hills (Act 2 Core Biome) Bleak and merciless under a burning sky. The frontier grows harsher the further you push.

Underground Mines (Act 2 Dungeon) Down here the Undead still cling to the riches they earned in life. It’s time to relieve them of that burden.

Forge of the Phoenix (Act 3 Dungeon) The birdlike faction operating these forges is militarizing for reasons unknown. Better dismantle their infrastructure before it’s too late.

Future chapters will continue to expand the frontier. Deeper into the hills, the mines, and the inferno beyond.
