What's new

World generation

  • No more oceans. Continent skipping is off, and a terrain height floor keeps the ground above sea level, so the world is one continuous desert.
  • The desert terrain preset now ships inside the pack as a mod, so every new world gets the right terrain straight away. This fixes the patch of vanilla biomes around spawn.
  • Fewer, more spread-out villages (vanilla and Integrated Villages on a ~960-block grid).
  • New structures: When Dungeons Arise, YUNG's Better Desert Temples, Better Dungeons and Better Mineshafts. Spawn rates are tuned for the desert, and a structure-overlap guard stops them generating inside villages.
  • Scorched Guns loot structures (Asgharian Citadel and Tower, Osgood Lab, Trench) now appear in desert and badlands.
  • Only zombies and husks spawn as ambient hostiles. Spawn eggs, /summon and raids still work.

Ores

  • Large Ore Deposits gets anthralite deposits, marked on the surface by a geothermal vent, and sulfur deposits, marked by a sulfuric vent. A Vent Collector can farm both vents. Sulfur vents release gas.
  • Lead deposits fixed. They now generate, with their own surface sample block.

Raids

  • Raids now come in waves. Scorched Guns' single-boss raid is replaced by 3 waves with a raid bar, and the boss arrives in the final wave. Raiders spawn 48–64 blocks out and centre on your bed if you're within 128 blocks of it.
  • 20% chance of a raid each night (was 50%), still at least 2 days apart.
  • You can't sleep through a raid. Beds refuse during a raid, on a night one is scheduled, and before the dusk roll.
  • The diamond steel raid boss is now the Scamppanzer.

Water & survival

  • Create Food drinks quench thirst: juices, smoothies, milkshakes, chocolate milk and hot chocolate. They give thirst only (no hunger) and don't need purifying.
  • Purified water no longer shows as Dirty.
  • Create Food's water→salt recipe is removed.
  • Death now costs 25% durability on kept gear (was 35%).

Power & crafting

  • Create: Petrochem is removed. Create: Diesel Generators is the oil and fuel mod.
  • Gasoline vs diesel: gasoline gives the most power in normal and modular engines but burns about 3x faster. Diesel is the efficient fuel and the best choice for huge engines.
  • Kelp → rubber: recipes that used dried kelp now use Rubberworks rubber (food and decor recipes are unchanged), since there are no oceans.
  • Gunsmithing and Big Cannons steel ingots convert 1:1.

Progression & quests

  • New quest book: 12 chapters and 226 quests (the server previously had none). It covers Foundations → Water → Create basics → Vehicles, then guns, armour, prospecting, raids, fuel and power, and the villager economy. Rewards are mostly XP.
  • The Nether and End are disabled. Portals won't light and travel there is blocked. Ruined portals still generate, and Nether and End items come from the custom villager traders.
  • End Scavenger has new level 4–5 trades: shulker shells, chorus flowers, dragon's breath and ender chests.
  • Wayfinder Compass: every player gets one on first login. Use it twice within 10 seconds to be sent 2,000–5,000 blocks out to found your own base. It moves your respawn point there and is used up.
  • Map Atlases accept plain paper for empty maps.
