2.0 Our Biggest Update Ever!
NOTE: Worlds from previous versions will not work on this version. You also need Optifine 1.12.2_HD_U_F4 to enable the resource pack. The resource pack is ESSENTIAL to get the best experience. Many textures were updated and you need the provided resource pack to see them. Things won't make sense without it.
We are finally merging with the modified pack! This introduces MANY new changes and features and feel that the state of the modpack is better than ever! We can't cover everything, but these are the main highlights.
- Entirely reworked progression system. All modded (and some vanilla) ores were edited in stats, spawn locations, and spawn rates. All in all having a more rewarding and easy to understand progression with many options and builds along the way. New early games ores were added, iron spawns deeper, THREE new late-game ore that is better than diamond but all have their own uses and don't spawn in the Overworld, etc... If you're confused about dimension progression, generally it goes like Overworld > Nether (for night vision potions) > Beneath > Nether (to mine Onyx, blaze power, etc) > End > Twilight Forest. The Aether can mostly fit anywhere in there and is pretty much optional as the difficulty isn't too bad, and doesn't really offer any items/materials used in the late game. But, in general, it's a great mid-game dimension.
- Scaling difficulty for both the player and mobs. Progression will be noticeable and feel very rewarding! At the same time, you will never be too over or under powered at any point in the game! (but you may feel under or over powered, there's a difference.) A difficulty bar will show up on the bottom-left corner of your screen to remind you that you must continually progress before the mobs grow too strong!
- Combat overhaul with many set bonuses, duel wielding, Terraria-like build paths, and much more. Every single piece of craftable armor has a practical use and has one or more set bonus paths associated with it, as well as all late game weapons. Many more will come in future versions. There's something for everyone here!
- Terraria-esc Bloodmoons and Invasions. Pirates! Zombie hordes! Illagers! And more! Balanced and scales with you. Just a way to keep you on your toes and keep the game interesting!
- Winter is coming. Dynamically changing seasons that affect crops, animals and weather! Make sure you stockpile food before the winter. Try making a season clock! (or a season detector for redstone contraptions)
- Sleeping and hunger rework! Sleeping is enabled, but comes at a price! Skipping a night drastically reduces your hunger, and if your hunger is too low, you'll die in your sleep! Make sure you're in a well-lit and safe area too or else mobs will attack you while you're asleep! Also, there are many times in the game in which you can not sleep, such as during bloodmoons, invasions and thunderstorms! Waking up also causes you to be drowsy for a few seconds as you adjust to the morning. Who wakes up energized anyway?
- Structure overhaul! The spawn rate of dungeons and structures were balanced out to make sure they don't overpopulate the world, and bring you excitement when you see one. New structures were added and some were removed. (more Beneath-only structures will come in future versions, like ruins of ancient Enderman worshiping cults!)
- Weapon overhaul! Dungeon tactic weapons were disabled in favor of the much better Spartan Weapons and Shields. Currently these allow for most ore except late-game ore. Mythril shield and battleaxe was added and textured by us! Expect more late-game spartan weapons in the future (it takes a lot of work to add).
- Worldgen overhaul! Dynamic Trees! Biomes O Plenty! GeographiCraft! Overall the world feels much more interesting, alive, and fun to explore. Rivers were tripled in size, oceans were reduced slightly, and many more biome and worldgen improvements.
- Rare accessories and potions! Think Terraria's cloud in a bottle and lucky horseshoe. We have em! There are many accessories and they spawn in chests (and mimics!) in caves. Also, LOTS of potions were added and some of these have really awesome and unique effects (some are even part of armor set bonuses!)
- Gone with strip mining! Strip mining is no more, especially early game. You need better tools to mine the lower parts of the world, and in order to strip mine, you would need a diamond pickaxe. But trust me, the incentive for exploring caves is FAR greater. Especially with the new accessories!
- Beneath and Nether overhaul! The beneath is now a late game dimension, and poses a significant challenge now more than ever, but the reward is something you can not pass up! As well as containing two of the three best ore in the game that can not be found elsewhere (Adamantium and Mythril), it has dragon nests! These nests are very much late game and we recommend you rock full late-game armor for any of the 3 ores before fighting them. The other ore that wasn't mentioned is Onyx and only spawns in the Nether! You're gonna need a magical tool to mine it though. Diamonds won't cut it anymore!
- Many many config tweaks, balance changes, QoL changes, bug fixes, etc... If you want very detailed patch notes for everything, check out https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/rebirth-of-the-night-modified/files.
Upcoming Changes
> More copper, tin, iron and silver recipes that are used during mid/late game.
> More set bonuses (especially for weapons)
> Structure loot overhaul (like more interesting loot in dungeons)
> Custom advancements to show how amazing you are
> A guide book that helps you through your journey. Will function as a wiki (in-game but WIP)
> Possibly a village replacement or addon. Most village mods are either incompatible (TekTopia), laggy and sub-par (Millienaire, Coherent Villages), or simply don't fit the vanilla theme (MC Comes Alive). It's possible we won't ever find a good village overhaul mod. But it's possible we may find mods that make vanilla villages better with tweaks and whatnot.
> More Beneath specific structures.
Known Issues
> There is a completely random chance that starting up a world will cause an error and crash. Just start the world again and it will work. If it doesn't, talk to us on Discord.
> Melons and pumpkins only drop their seeds when harvested. (possibly dungeon tactics issue)
> Breaking a door sometimes drops two of itself.
